Great story! (y)

My fave circuit has to be Cadwell Park. Oulton Park is my local circuit though.
Never been to Cadwell and keep promising myself a visit, unfortunately life keeps getting in the way.

Talking about Oulton though, I was there one day for the Aurora British F1 Series which as some may know became the default home for last year's Grand Prix cars. I'd heard my mate Peter who used to drive Clubman 2000 cars, I think he had a Mallock, describing how to take the double right hander (I forget the name now) on the way down to Lodge to a driver in one of the support races who'd never competed at Oulton before. As Peter made one of his very rare sorties to buy the burgers I found myself waiting by the same corner as another driver wandered up to have a look.

I couldn't resist it; I just had to tell him how to drive it to get the highest speed down to Lodge Corner. He didn't seem very impressed, still, his loss as I was imparting information of the greatest import. If he wanted to get anywhere as a racing driver he should have paid more attention to me, an acknowledged expert in the art of racing at Oulton Park.

Wandering through the paddock just before the warm up lap I looked at the driver of one of the F1 cars. He definitely had his race face on as his Durex sponsored Brabham (maybe) made its way into the pit lane. After the race I saw the same driver coming back from Race Control where he'd been interviewed after gaining a podium position. He seemed vaguely familiar. Yes it was the same driver I tried to give the benefit of my advice to. He was (a young) David Leslie. The sadly now late David Leslie.

Blimey, some tale! The corners name you are looking for is 'Druids'. (y)

Cadwell is often referred to as the 'mini-nurburgring'. It really is a hoot to drive and very technical. Dare, I mention it, but I got a lap record there too! :p
