I am considering fitting a 2 channel dash cam to Cross Plus. Has anybody done so and can offer advice on viability of hard wiring the same please?

Have a look here- https://www.fiatforum.com/500x/440297-wheres-fing-fuse-box.html
I can’t comment on a dual channel dashcam but I fitted a single channel one a while ago.

I would however try to initially run it off the accessory socket as I found that the Stop/Start system can interfere with the camera. I had one unit that would reset every time the car restarted. Would be good to check compatibility before you go through the trouble of hardwiring.

Another thing to think about is the size of the dashcam. I went for a Thinkware F50 as anything bigger will block your view ahead as my mirror housing is really bulky.

I had a BlackVue dr750s dual channel fitted just after Christmas. I ended up purchasing from Halfords - they charged just £30 for the fitting ( which was done very well)

The cam has something called a power magic which lets it continue to operate when ignition is off but cuts itself off as the battery level drops too low.

Yup - so the PowerMagic is hidden away taking a feed from fuse box. The front camera cabling was routed up the pillar and positioned just to the side of the read view mirror - the only cable shown is from the headlining.

The rear camera cabling was routed through the car and comes out at the rubber grommets in the boot lid.

Where did they hide the PowerMagic Pro?

Hi there

They placed the power magic in the void behind the glove box, the fitter said he got access by the side panel to the this when the passenger door is open.

I’m very happy with the fit out - I’ll try to grab some pics for you.

I had an appointment with local Halfords team to fit dashcam but wasn't keen on how it looked, any chance MeesterD can put on some pics of the cams mounted to his screen?

What was it about the way it looked that you were not keen on?
As long as he hasn't blocked access to the pollen filter, which also lives there!

Due to the rear mirror housing and the black band around the windscreen the fitter wanted to fit it 2 inches left of mirror and 1 inch down just looked as if it was stuck in the middle of nowhere

Hi all - photos attached hopefully, if you need any other angles left me know

Thanks.

I have a Thinkware F50 and the speed camera updates as you are driving work very well for me.

I got a local auto electrician to sort it out for me and he fitted my underseat subwoofer at the same time.
