A year or 2 ago I bought multiscan and an ODBII lead with a yellow adaptor. In the end I didn't use it.

Now we have an ABS light on and a message telling us that ABS is not available. So I thought it was time to use the multiscan.
I have plugged it in with and without the yellow adaptor and with the ignition on.

When I click connect there is a message telling me I need an ELM327 connector or ODBKEy interface. I believe that is what I have. It further says to check the lead and serial port settings.

My laptop does not have a serial port. The lead has a USB plug and it is plugged into a USB port.

Any ideas?

Engine management, ABS and Selespeed gearbox are reached without adaptor. You are sure to have ELM 327 and not KKL interface. You should have a look to MES homepage to check for interfaces that work and that won't.

Yes I have tried it both with the yellow adaptor and without. My lead came for Proscan Automotive in Porthcawl.

I think I may have been a bit thick. There was a CD in the box which I ignored as my laptop does not have a CD drive. Just searched for Proscan Automotive on the internet and found they have a download to use in place of the CD.

Time for another go I think!

@MG David

If the F9 test on the laptop says that MultiECUScan can work ok with the cable set.up you have I suspect your issue may be elsewhere

Basics:
Plug into the OBD port..

Do the 'Search for Devices'

Should list all the vehicles modules

Engine ECU

ABS

PAS etc

If this fails you dont have a proper connection : no comms

Thanks for your helpful comment. Can I just check. Is search for devices a function within Windows or is it a function within Multiecuscan?

Sorry..

Its an icon on the MES main page 'Connect'.. ?

Basically it scan the vehicle for modules.. I use it as it I D. 's the correct variant.. often there are 4 x engine ECU options

Sorry I cannot recall its exact name :-(

Are you in South Wales?
