Hi there. I've got a Fiat 500 with a problem. When I press the clutch in it won't let me select any gears. There is pressure on the pedal. I've replaced the slave cylinder and fitted a compression fitting where the old joint was leaking. It's been thoroughly bled but still won't let me engage the gears with the pedal pressed. Any help would be appreciated thanks. Mick

Any history?
Has gearbox/clutch been replaced, is there any noises from the clutch/gearbox?
Another external check, if you have an external clutch lever on your gearbox bell housing, if possible move the clutch release arm with a lever of bar to it's full travel, then if possible jam it in that position and see if gears select OK, if it doesn't then the problem means removing the gearbox to check.
If it does then problem is external, as in hydraulics of clutch release.
Usually if fluid level goes down, unless there is clutch fluid around the pedal inside the car it points to the slave cylinder.
If the level stays the same, but clutch doesn't disengage it is worth checking the master cylinder.

OK that rules out gear cables.

Either hydraulics or clutch. How old is the clutch?

And does the release arm move when you press the clutch pedal?

There's some info on this site somewhere about how far it should move
Hi there, the clutch release arm does move but whether it moves the full stroke I'm not sure.
