Anyone tried this chip on a Cinq 900?

Thanks

In some of the 899 ECUs you can't fit an eprom because they are flash memory, which is integrated in the processor.

But I run an uncoded 899 ECU for a while on a Seicento 1108 SPI.

Only problem you might find is that (if you can fit the chip) the program tends to overfuel the engine being much smaller. Lambda reading might not be able to compensate fully.

what kind of performance gains/mpg gains/ responsiveness etc. were there?

my mate just said "f**k, it's made it go faster "

Couldnt comment on the differences between the chip and standard on my tuned 1242 though as it's never run on a normal chip!

thanks, anyone else?

so i take it was a noticeable difference?!
Yes, a noticeable difference straight away. More grunt, no mid-range flat spot and no noticeable difference in ecomony (I drive mine like a crazed loon and get 42.5mpg anyway).

thats great, just a pity i on 17s! otherwise surely this along with straight thru exhaust and cold air feed/induciton kit wud make a very quick 1.2?!

just saying the mods you have planned together with a tricker throttle body would be nice, you might even be tempted to put smaller wheels on to get the most from it.

Hey guys/gals

I posted on the forums a few weeks back about my girlfriend buying a 98 punto 60s that had the red key missing and therefore wouldnt start (code light on dash flashes)

I've spoken to mckrich about his chip and it sounds like a good cheap solution

Ive got the ecu home (IAW 16F E3) and need to chip it this week then go back next week to where the car is and drive the car home

Unfortunatly when I opened up the ECU it is a soldered chip

Have any of you guys succesfully unsoldered the chip and soldered mkrich one in? Is it a tricky job? Luckily girlfriends dad used to be a tv repair blokey so is good with a soldering iron..

Also has any of you guys who've done a 1242 conversion used the same ecu as we have - just nervous that the chip will actually work :)

Cheers for any replies

Im not bothered about losing the coding as the red key is lost permanently and Im planning on buying an aftermarket ecu and immobiliser for it :)

i dont know of anyone who has desoldered and fitted a chip carrier. Most people just buy a non soldered ECU instead.

There is myself, gex, randomman and mase to name a few that use this chip on 1242 centos. I also tested a cinq ECU running a novitec 1108cc cinq chip on a Punto 60, and it ran it fine.

OK I'll give it a go desoldering

My only problem with buying another ECU is unless I go round scrap yards physically opening them I suspect i'll get another thats soldered :(
