Technical Chirping sound from steering wheel

This only started today but when I turn my steering wheel it makes a chirping noise? Literally sounds like a cricket stuck inside the dash, any ideas what could be causing this?

Yeah all the buttons work fine, still able to control my music etc with steering wheel buttons

probably just a piece of trim rubbing against a moving part when the wheel is turned.

Yeh ya say that but the similar sound on my Mercedes ml 4x4 turned out to be a kn***kered steering rack!.

At least our little fiats are electric in that area so not QUITE so much hassle! -not saying this is the problem here though!- probably a cheep trim gremlin has woken up to cause trouble! tend to agree with clock spring diagnosis! Id spray a bucket load of WD40 in there and see if it quiets down!.

I'll try the cheap solution of WD40 first thanks!
