General chinq engine ??

Its getting there. Had a break from the engine at the weekend and moved on to the wiring which is not too far off now. The engine is coming out again this week so I can finish welding and tidying up the engine bay as well as paint it and put all new brake pipes in. A friends dad who owns a engineering company said he will make me some 1 piece driveshafts when I give him the lengths to save welding the two together so hopefully they will be stronger(all I have to do is pay for the material, Result!!). I have aqiured a higher pressure fuel pump so that got to go in too. Yeah it is tight in there for working on but I work on forklift trucks for a living and you should see some of the spaces they expect you to work with on them! the cinq looks spacious! I am going to have the battery and the bottles for the coolant, washers and water injection iside the car in order to get as much air around the engine as possible. I am going to use an electric water pump to overcome the problem of the standard waterpump pulley rubbing on the body and use 2 cinq rads run in series(one on either side of the car with the intercooler and oil cooler in between as the electric pump has the power to do this. Hopefully I have thought of everything as its probably too late now! I will have more pics soon.

If you have the expansion bottle and battery in the car make sure you're well shielded from them. Knew a guy years ago who rolled his car and got trapped. He was perfectly OK apart from some VERY nasty non healing scars from battery acid leaking on him.

sealed or not, crash it and i bet u could crack the battery casing!
i crashed my mini and the battery did not crack :slayer: instead the crash caused so much force that the battery ripped away from the leads pulling the earth out the floor and the battery flew out and half a mile down the road

back to topic, it sounds like your doing well rich, the one piece shafts for cost price is damn lucky, the mini guys with vaux/v-tec conversions pay around £320 for this service alone:eek:

dumb question
Why won't the uno turbo fit a 1242 8 valve?

assuming it doesn't?

Do you not mean why won't the UT lump fit in a cinq without lots of work?Due to it's size. Also why would anybody want to replace a 1.4 Turbo engine with a 1242cc 8v N/A engine

I think that the poster was suggesting fitting the turbo from an Uno Turbo to a N/A cinq engine to save having to do the complete transplant.

We, of course know, that the the engines are diferent.
