General chinq engine ??

General chinq engine ??

It is the uno bracket bolted to the engine and the uno rubber mount. I cut away too much metal from the inner arch as I thought I was going to need to have the engine further over but it is ok where it is-I will tidy this up when the engine is out again.

how much has this projectect cost you so far would be great if you could do a wiring tread or somthing people would find that helpfull when you get it running and the time

also the engine bay is the same size as the sx 900cc

So far it has cost me about £150(£100 for the engines and other parts and around £50 on other bits). Yeah the engine bay on a 900 is the same as a sporting. I was going to start with a 900cc as you can pick them up really cheap and if it goes wrong its not too much of a tragedy but decided to go for it on my sporting instead..

looks like uno turbo is the way forword then this is the engine im going to use in mine. whats the bhp standed but if it had wings it would fly

imo a tuned 1242 would be better, by tuned a mean like mine is meant to be when its finished (turbo not fitted yet!) as the UT engine is heavier and is going to mess up the handling.

Yeah that (y)

The 1.4 was great in a straight line but not so much fun on the bends with the extra weight up front.

The shafts are cinq/uno hybrids and not that expensive to have machined.I think they were around £170 for them to be made up.

thats not 2 bad then is that fresh made ones or do they use the uno and chinq 1s and modd them

No thats for the uno inners and cinq outers welded together.Need to be done well mind to stop snapping/vibration etc of the shafts.

Really good thread (y) with Rich's pics etc its one of the best threads theres been on this forum about the 1.4 turbo conversion and Rich makes it sound so easy  im actually tempted myself now  need a quick weekend car

Hi all.

Not done any more to the car yet as I have been finishing off my 16v cinq as someone wants to buy it and I need the money for the uno-cinq. I will draw a wiring diagram once I have the engine running and I will get some more pics up soon.

are you going to weld a sheet of steel on the inner wing where you cut it away

would it make any difference having the engine further over? like when having the shafts extended etc?

ever thought of doing a flip front or lift off front? that way no need for inner arches and front can lift out therefore making the install alot easier to work around?

You'd need to design and build a supporting frame with bracing to keep the MOT man happy if you tried to flip front a Cinq.

Oh i know that when i was putting the new front end on my sporting i was seriously thinking of doing it and the main thing would be a brace bar coming from near middle of a pillar, down to the front of the chassis leg and accross to other side, them same other side , then youd need a small space frame for the lift off/ flip front to keep all the lights, grille bonnet etc in place and aligned but its defo possible and worthwhile IMO especailly when doing an involved/intricate conversion like this

Modder-I havent got any pics of the 16v on my computer but I can take some of it if you let me know what you want pics of.

I will be putting some more pics of the uno-cinq up later hopefully if I make some more progress. As for flip front I did consider this as i had one on a mini before but thought it would have to be pretty strong to take the uno-t power so thought I would leave it. The access round the engine is ok as it is really as long as you dont want to change the cambelt=engine out I think.
