...and this happened:

Bulb popped off the holder whilst refitting (n)

Is the sidelight/DRL housing a sealed unit, or will I be able to get into it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A chopstick with a very sticky bit of tape on the end might be enough to pull the bulb out, if you've got enough access at the back of the headlight unit to poke a chopstick through.

Good idea! Think I will need something more flexible though, so going fishing with a bit of Cat5 cable wrapped in Duck tape!

wow great answers... they will all work but mine is better and permanent :)

I had the same issue (some time in the near future) and found it best to make a hole in the headlight using an diamond tipped industrial drill, job done in 2 minutes.

God speed !

I did that too...

I bought a magnetic telescopic screwdriver thing for 99p. The base of the bulb is magnetic and after bending the screwdriver to a banana-shape and some mild swearing I retrieved the bulb!

On a more serious note, I don't think i'm going to bother fitting them again, as they didn't seem a great fit (and this was proven when it popped out the holder inside the lamp!)

I bought these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310337678548

which was a mistake anyway as the original items are dual fillament!

I think these are the ones other people have been fitting (a bit dearer at over £35 )

Am I right in thinking the fact the ones I tried to fit today are single fillament should make no difference to the actual fitment?

Bought it from the 99p store?:)

I found that you need quite a bit of force to get the bulb in the holder properly. It should make a definite click.

Polarg make a dual filament bulb with a whiter light than the stock bulbs. An eBay seller in the States sells then for about £10 a pair with p&p.
