I wish i knew this earlier in the year when i completely dismantled my grande punto stereo to get the cd out.

If above tip does not work, you'll have to remove the unit from the dash and the top should lift off without too much difficulty. Then you can encourage the CD out and all should be well.
Thanks. Certainly try the CD option- makes sense thinking about it. A bit worried about taking the player apart since the dash is all one unit. I certainly don't want the the other half to touch it since he took the radio cassette out of my camper van and 2 years later all I have is a gap and wires! (He is getting around to it.......)
It is easier to remove than it looks.
Around the two control sets at each end are two blanks that prise off gently to reveal the removal tool holes. Standard removal tools will ease the unit out.
Usually the top lifts off, without any fixings, and the CD mechanism is at the top.
Stand over him with a big stick until he finishes. (Other incentives are available.)
