Technical Aux in mk2b

Hey guys, I've already posted in I.C.E but no replies. I think the mk2/2b forum has more views

Wondered if it was possible to connect out certain pins to simulate cdc connections? I don't know a lot about it so I could be way off

cant see an easy fix
junk the fiat player on the bay
buy an updated usb player,its much easier and no cumbersome jittery cds to contend with on our pocked roads

most of them sound junk under real load

Not just that, I think they look awful, even with the surround they look out of place.:yuck: Maybe a bespoke fascia which is a similar fit would look ok but obviously they don't make such a thing.

I've read a post from someone trying the same thing and apparently holding the SRC button when switching on the HU activated the changer setting so I might have a go at that. Annoying but I could live with it if it works

It Works! Just need to find a suitable place to put the jack

If your unlucky like me to not have the Multi CD player, surly you can get the ""aux"" in to work like that?

I have to agree I'm really not a fan of the aftermarket look, will give this a go tomorrow as if it works I'll also be buying an aux in off of eBay for my iPod, might finally get some decent sound quality. Also much better than the expensive connection kits which force you to control the iPod via the head unit controls,

I may still consider and aftermarket blupunkt unit because I fancy the idea of having DAB in the car before long

It might not work first time, obviously there is a knack to it. You have to let go of the SRC button as soon as the HU comes on otherwise if you still have hold of the button it will do an fm scan

Is it the same as this one?

If so, hold the src button whilst switching on, as soon as the HU comes on let go of the 'On/Off' button then immediately let go of the SRC button.

It takes a few goes to get the hang of it. I still don't get it first time everytime

mk2b has a proper volume pot

Tried getting my radio (mk2b) in Changer mode, but didn't work. According to the Fiat radio manual you need to press the SRC button once the unit is on (like switching to CD). Think we need to trick the HU in thinking that a CD changer is connected so it would change to the CD changer instead of the onboard CD.

Didn't know it was a mk2 cd player as I got it off the bay. From the two styles I assumed it was the other way around

Link to labelled diagram in first post. I tried to link out pairs of pins using an unfolded paperclip (probs not safe, I know) and got nothing. Don't think I tried either of the 12v to data in or data out though. Maybe you need to link out more than 2 pins?

Its a standard RX/TX serial connection to make it easy to address from any computer serial port (as well as from the CD changer) the protocols can be easily on the internet with a quick google search

Some new information regarding this topic:

CD changer used two wires to communicate with the head unit. TX and RX wire. It uses a Blaupunkt protocol (more information regarding this Blaupunkt CDC protocol: http://www.mictronics.de/projects/cdc-protocols/#Blaupunkt).

Found an Arduino code on the web, going to try this tomorrow! (https://github.com/Andrea81/CDCemu). According to this (http://www.gabriel-net.de/forum/showthread.php?p=243020) site, translated with Google Translate, this code should work!

They call it a CD Changer emulator, the Arduino tricks the HU so it enables the AUX inputs.

If it all works i'll write a guide
