Hey everyone.
First post here.

I need help.
My Blue & Me module seems to have gone. The odo is flashing, and I already tried disconecting the battery.

Now, I want to buy a module from a scrap yard. But my main question is: Are all the modules the same?

Are they model specific? Like do I need to get one for a 1.4 or can i just pull one out of an older year model 1.2?

Also, can anyone tell me more about the proxy realignment.

Model
500s 1.4

Welcome to the forum!🙃

The general consensus seems to be that it's best to abandon the B&M module, disconnecting it completely and even removing it altogether, and replace the OEM radio with an aftermarket unit with Bluetooth connectivity. If you leave the B&M module in situ, and connected, it's common for it to begin to drain the battery. A second-hand module is an unknown quantity - most likely to have already failed or be about to.

Thanks for the reply.

I hear you, but I'm looking to keep my 500 original.

If you're looking at a secondhand module from a breakers, be aware it may soon go the same way as the one you've got now. They seem very prone to failure in older cars.
Have you checked the repair services offered on-line
I'd say this is a better option than an unknown one out of a scrap car - plus, you won't have to worry about hardware differences.

I'm in South Africa.
So getting someone to repair it will be hard.

To answer the original question, aim to get one reasonably close in year but the engine size, trim level etc should not matter.

Here in Europe all units after about 2011 are interchangeable with each other (as are ones before - but you can't replace early with late or vice versa), though the software got updated as time rolled by, so later ones should have the best compatibility with later phones etc.

Thanks for the info.

Do you know if my local Fiat can do the proxy alignment

I don’t believe they are all the same the part number varies with model. They are repairable, with a warranty. Failure of other items, the IBS for instance, or an old battery can cause flashing odometer.

You need multiscan or the dealer equivalent to realignments. This is basically rebuilding the devices connected table in the computer, by getting it to search and connect with them.

Fair enough, I can appreciate that. Have you checked the repair services offered on-line? 🙃
Someone said a firm in Bradford repair them at £50. I would avoid scrapyard electronics unless there is a rock solid warranty and guarantee its working. Damp will not do these things any good and breakers may well be damp conditions. If I find the details I will edit this post. I think this was a very recent post.

What I would say, as is evident from anyone who has used the blue and me satnav, is that the blue and me module does know what car it is fitted to. It also does calculations for fuel efficacy for the eco part of the satnav software so, It is likely to have some effect if it is from a different model of 500 and is unlikely to be compatible/straight forward swap with a blue and me module from any other fiat group car.
