I've just bought another neg terminal assembly, on the offchance it may be that again. This time, I went for one that is a later date but the same design, and with later hardware and software. Perhaps they quietly updated that part, least that's what I'm hoping.
I really can't get into it yet, as I'm painting the workshop floor and I've moved everything to do it, and can't get to/find anything.
IMO, if they haven't tested the LIN then it hasn't been tested, but your field repair sounds promising. Unless theres a way to feed the field coil, bypassing the processor, which there probably is. But did the take it apart?
I did hear on the forums somewhere, that you can take the neg terminal plug off and blip the throttle a few times, and it will self excite. I'm sure I did this for a while, can't remember, I'll go and try it again, now.
UPDATE:
With neg terminal plug attached, DMM plugged onto battery facing driver. Blipping throttle (max 4k), the voltage never gets above 12.2V (loaded with useage heavy stuff on).
With neg terminal plug disconnected, DMM plugged onto battery facing driver. Blipping throttle (max4k), the voltage never goes below 12.6V (loaded with useage heavy stuff on).
So mine will be disconnected for the next couple of days to monitor it.
