Our 2016 500x 1.4T recently threw a drive belt. I've replaced the belt easily enough, but noticed it sliced a wire/sensor nearby.

Given that the oil light is now lit on the dashboard i'm assuming that is the role of the sensor?

Is there a name for it, or a replacement loom section I can buy to replace? Bit new to all this to be honest.

Showed the picture to a mechanic in a former FIAT garage and he didn't know what it was, but stated it probably wasn't that important given how thin the wire was!

Any help appreciated

I am sure it is no more complicated than needing something like this

and this is why I don't rate main dealer service centers

Thanks, yes that looks like it... i've ordered the correct model and hopefully should be an easy fix. Appreciate the help :)

Looking at the first of your two pictures, it looks like there's enough wire left on the plug that someone who knows how to solder could just solder the wire back on?

It really is the tiniest slither of wire poking out so beyond my soldering skills... i'll be much happier soldering the longer wire when it arrives. Thanks for the advice :)

I am extremely handing with a soldering iron. even I would just get a new plug for that. you could probably solder onto it but you would struggle to get enough heat shrink over the solder joint to insulate it properly and to support the solder joint, so it would probably vibrate and fracture again quite quickly.
 
Just working on my 25 year old Punto tonight and the oil pressure sensor is not only exactly in the same place but is also the same plug and just as vulnerable as the much newer car above. You can look at it two ways
1. Fiat are really not progressive with their technology and designs.
2. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, but given its vulnerability in inclined to go with option 1

Aye Andy, you're probably right. But, being a "tight" Scot I'd probably give it a go first! Slaistering some epoxy resin over it should seal it and support it.
