Hi
Helping a friend who got this car via carvana 4 months ago. Car fax looked good and was maintained it appears. Car has been great. Did the oil change for her.

I bought the liquid moly 0w20 and premium napa oil filter here in Canada. The German liquid moly oil meets the standard requirement mentioned in the manual for the car.

It's been about 1000 miles since oil change and just recently while at the lights. The low oil pressure warning came up as a message on dash. Not the oil light or the check engine light.

I quickly pulled over within 3 seconds, turned it off. Checked the level of oil - perfect.

I checked the oil temperate gauge in the menu system - the bars not filled in ( 3 bars ) top bar would be red but it only filled bottom or bottom and middle. I believe it suppose to read bottom up as bars. I think it was in the middle . It was not a hot day. Engine temperature was as well medium half way up which it always stays at.

No leaks under the car.

I fired it up after 5 mins letting it sit. No message and we went about our day.

Never seen again:

Once home I scanned the computer and no pending codes were found.

It has since been drive 100 miles at highway speeds and no warning.

Thoughts on what next?

1 - can the oil pressure sensor be OHM tested, if so what is the expected reading?
2 - should I really go buy a mopar oil filter and install it?
3 - is there any other parts i should be doing a visual inspection of?
4 - is there a torque spec for the oil pressure sensor if i do replace it?

Clearly the right thing to do is, sensor remove, hook up pressure gauge and check oil pressure at idle.

Anyone know what alldata says for expected OHM resistance and pressures at idle and certain rpm's with engine cold/hot?

THANKS!!!

Check correct level of engine oil, correct viscosity and correct type.
Check that the correct oil filter is used.
Disconnect the engine oil pressure sensor connector and check the state of the connectors and that the terminals are not damaged, deformed, corroded or disconnected
Check for the presence of open circuit in the wiring between engine oil pressure sensor and pins 17, 66 and 46 of the engine control module connector on engine side
Check that the engine oil pressure sensor is working properly

Check wiring.

My Bravo used to do this to tell me i'd nearly stalled it.... If the revs dropped very low on take off. Its not necessarily a terrible warning. That car went for 108,000 miles and was running better than new when I sold it on. Most of these things relate to more than 1 sensorm and if just one gives a low signal for a moment a light or warning appears. If you have a code reader like MES you may be able to interrogate the ECU. You clearly did the right thing but it sounds like an Italian moment. My Bravo was a fantastic car but did have a habit maily in hot weather of opening the windows when I had left if parked.

I just watched that video of where the sensor lives. Might be a bit hairy to get to it for visual inspection. Fiat/Chrysler dealership told me there is no gasket or seal for that sensor . it is $100 CAD from them and rock auto is $60. CAD

Oil is $100 CAD for 6 L and $7 for their filter.

Where as NAPA here liquid moly with same Mxxxxx rating was $50 (5L) + $13 for another 1L.

I updated my scan tool but doubt launch 123 will work with ECM, it does with other systems , air bag etc . Don't think I can find PID for oil pressure.

Thanks for your reply. I sure do hope it was a one off. Of course when i was driving.
