Technical 2013 Fiat 500 Pop Gear Issues

hi everyone, in a bit of a pickle here. so recently I've been having issues with the gears on my fiat 500 pop 2013 manual transmission. I've already had 2 mechanics look at it, first one said I need new gear cables, second one said it's an issue with the gearbox. now I'm looking for another garage for a 3rd opinion but wanted to come on here to see if anyone's got any prior experience with this problem. I'm based in England.

symptoms: 1st, 3rd and 5th gear cannot be engaged and is slightly stiff. it goes into gear with abit of strength but grinds once clutch is lifted.

2nd, 4th and reverse works but it's very stiff to go into the gear as if there's a cotton ball blocking me to go into the gears.

clutch and transmission fluid have been bled and all was okay. clutch was replaced Dec 2024 so quite new. gear cables were not replaced, but green plastic gear linkages were replaced as the entire cable was out of stock back in December.

if anyone has experienced this and managed to fix it please help a girl out, I've only owned this car for less than a year and I don't want to sell it since I already spent money on a new clutch just recently. thank you very much in advance!

Sounds like a gear selection issue - the fact the green plastic cable ends were replaced is maybe significant. Were they adjusted OK I wonder - might be worth going back to whoever fitted them?

Once in gear does the car drive ok?
Remove the cable ends. Manually shift the gears. This should help isolate cable and source of problem. If ok then check cable movement. If ok then as above cable ends need adjusting. The OEM cable ends is a different length to the green replacement.
Also has this developed since the clutch replacement? Check the transmission fluid level.
