hi all
bought a left hand drive Colum shift 1.9d fiat ducato motor home last year and went out a few times in her then parked at the back of the house for the winter, went to take it a drive last week and reversed round to the front of the house and after struggling to get it into reverse it wont come out again, tried manipulating the linkage to get it out but no luck. tried rocking back and forward in gear to see - nowt.
i did read somrthing about the 5th gear syncro spring going on these and giving the same issue but i cant find the info again.
can anyone shed any light ? pointers ?

any help appreciated

It may well be an internal gearbox issue, but first I would jack a front wheel of the ground and support it safely to allow it to be able to turn without load from the vehicle pushing it under tension.
Then with engine off I would try wriggling/working the gear linkages at the gearbox once you have identified which is the gear selection and which is the neutral gate. Hopefully it will free off assuming you didn't strain the linkage too much earlier.
In the old days many vehicles were column change, so when well worn it was often quite common for me and others to diver under the vehicles and wriggle them back to neutral, most were rear wheel drive in those days though.:)
