Styling 15inch alloy wheels on a mk1 punto

Rear radius arm bearings can be a pig to knock out. There was a guide somewhere, I'll go and hunt for it. 1cm of play sounds like the bearing must have completely collapsed. The metal-to-metal sound could be the shocker. If oil can get out, dirt can get in, creating friction.

Cheers mike yea, on the joint itself there is more play on the wheel side. if i tug the wheel left and right, nothing. but up and down theres play can clearly see underneath lol so dont know what do yet but needs sorting. oh the shocker i can see the best n/s is leaking oil havnt checked the o/s yet.

hi all another update, Im pissed off lol :bang: my brother did the rear bush yesterday, and i took it down the a500 again 2day and guess what the shaking is still there, i did notice thou on braking i could feel it sharper through the steering.

any other suggestions?

me is thinking of just selling on the car now had that many different probs its like its prob prone lol and the wheels i think even if i put the steels back on the problem will still be there just it won't be noticable anymore.

no worries missey you help me find n fix the bush just getting frustrated with trying and with being on low income due to mental helath I can't afford keep trying things. Really would love just swap sombody with 13inch alloys. Just get it sorted.

The shaking felt more like sharp juddering in the steering wheel when I was breaking from 60mph. strange because all the shaking cums through the steering not the body? lol

It was doing this before with the braking but never noticed it too much because I don't usual brake sharp. at this instances I was approaching a 30mph speed cam lol

But never felt it on the steels.

hiya, and no they wont charge...if you go in there and say what you have done and explain that you still not got it cured (they will think you know what you are talking about ) And just say, what do you think? And tell them that you want a quote, but tell them that it will need to be driven to see what you are on about....

Promise, they wont charge, is why it's called a free quote.

Take it to a couple of places and decide which one you think is better...that is better than taking word of others anyways.

You know that there is a lot of national places who will check all sorts for you for free...like brakes etc and you are under no obligation to have work carried out by them

nice missey. will hopfully try sum places 2morrow then bearing what youve said in mind. i couldnt afford garage charges but if i knew what it was would try have a go with dad to sort it

think it might be sorted. i swaped the wheels back to front and when doing it i noticed a little dent in the rim of one of the front wheels the dent hasnt gone through to the inside of the wheel but im sure it might have been that. so i tried up2 around 65mph because theres no good fast roads close lol and that was a 50mph road and no shake as i could feel anyway. off down donington park in a few days and ive told the tomtom take fastest route so fingers crossed lol just thought id let ye know.

Pleased ya seem to have it sorted

Just make sure that wheel is safe if it's damaged...you not loosing air from it, I take it? And there are no cracks coming from the damage.

So far so good, Off donington park on sunday so hopfully will beable to confirm it!

The dent looks like a machine has pushed it in? There no damage to the metal/paint and the tyre is holding air. Will take a piccy show ye.

I would say that that wheel has suffered a blow-out whilst cornering, and the exposed rim has been slid across the tarmac. That's the ony rational explanation I can think of for the scrapes being perpendicular to the wheel face.

As a rule of thumb, if the dent leads to a depression in the tyre wall at that point, it needs sorting. It presents a weak-spot where the tyre can unseat the bead.

Least its on the back for now. I had to ditch mine to the kerb in snow/ice once, either that or hit the silly cow who pulled out on me, which left similar scrapes as it crunched down the kerb, but yeah, something not so nice has happened to it...where did you get them from? Is there a buckle on it, would have thought so with that bang and dent, should be able to get it repaired tho.

EDIT:

remember tho, you wont have got rid of that wobble, you just moved it. O and there is a good referb company in Stroud in Rochester, dunno what they are called, would have to google, but you can send off to them for fixing.
