right here are the pics, and some more questions

Turbo elbow parts:

Exhaust flange fitted:

Now, the thing i need to know is should I take the exhaust pipe off of the turbo pointing straight down to the floor? like in the 1st pic below. Or should I take it off towards the engine? (as in the 2nd pic below)

Also when i put the bottom elbow on to the exhaust pipe do i want it pointing the same way as the one going on to the turbo exhaust flange? or does it want to be angled towards the clearing on the bottom of the sump?

Thanks in advance!

Lenny (y)

all depends.... if you want one like alex old cinq then poin it near the engine just means you cant get oil filter on and have to use a external filter relocation kit, or have one like mine away from the engine so it allows you room to get filter on/off ;) without need of a relocation kit

TURBO PEEPS.......

Which outlet does your oil feeds come from? top one or bottom?

yea :) thanks man. Have decided to get the sandwich plate first anyways, then i can fit the sandwich plate and filter and make the turbo elbow fit around it.

Just need to get the parts ordered up now (waiting to hear back from Aaron first, just to make double sure  lol)

Thanks again

Lenny

PS - Where did you get your high temp paint from to paint the engine gazzaman? Have looked briefly at motorfactors round here and can only seem to get spray, would prefer hand paint, which it looks like yours was?

About the two holes in the filter housing, for a N/A engine wanting to have an oil pressure and temp gauge, do you just put an adaptor in both holes, the top and bottom???

Your making good progress,is that turbo unit brand new?? looks CLEAN:slayer: when painting an engine make sure you clean it very well,i did a head last year and it came out crap.
i saw you were intressted in that oil cooler+stat plate that was for sale:eek:  sorry, ive got it now:eek:

Some of these pics may help with the exhaust. I guy sent the to me,he was selling the kit,i i lost out:rolleyes:

Ahh, :( oh well lol you got there before me for the cooler, thats fair doos lol. And yea the turbo unit is brand spanking :slayer: I cleaned up the engine really well using ambersil amberklene and ambersil foaming degreaser and have started painting now, coming along nicely ;) will get some pics up when its done, painting it whilst waiting for next payday to come along to buy oil cooler parts lol (y)

Thanks for the pics, i'm still gonna fit the turbo exhaust around the sandwich plate and filter, just to be on the safe side lol ;)

I have a spare cooler if you still in need for one.i got it for me mini but ive given up with that heap of crap, its exactally the same to the one i got off here but its got a few bent fins etc.13 row bla bla bla... PM me if your intressted

I can't remember now if I have said already, and can't be bothered going back through 7 pages, but if I was doing a turbo again I would def go MPi set up and ditch the ECU and not bother with a MF2 etc as you could go after market ECU and have it all running that bit sweeter. once you factor in the cost of MF2, MAP sensor, fuel cut defender its almost as much as something like Emerald, but anyway looking good.

haha ;) i'm sure she'll be pleased about that :p thanks for the comments guys, afaik it's a std 1242 spi engine, the pulleys look the same as my spi thats in the car now .

Aaron, I think I'll get this one running low blow spi with an MF2 and 2nd MAP sensor etc. But who's to say what I'll get up to after this one is done! (y) just wanna keep it relatively simpe first time round plus know whats involved etc. But in the future i'll definately take a look at mpi with an aftermarket ecu ;)

Thanks again

Lenny

same engine stand as me....makes life so much easier (y)

Looks great, but is that pink lol?

The pump and cam both look spi cento pitch....and as long as the crank pulley is the same, all is good (y)

Look at mpi as a progression.....get this running sweet, then ecu, then mpi head (8v or 16v), and get some serious power :D

I'm curious what you do? Do you have all the welding stuff yourself or is it a work thing?

haha :p nah it's red, just the flash on the camera made it look pink. I do have all of the welding stuff myself, but I also have it at work as I'm a maintenance engineer. Comes in handy as we also have lathes, bridgeports pillar drills, linishers etc. ;) all of which i DON'T have myself lol.

Thanks again for all the comments, just need to wait for the oil cooler parts to be ordered now, can anyone tell me if I need to modify the pipe coming from the water pump? (as on the pic that Brooky posted up on the previous page)

Thanks again

Lenny
