While washing my recently-purchased 2011 Ducato 3.0 litre diesel motorhome I noticed water pooling in a depression either side of the vehicle below the wipers and above the trailing edge of the bonnet. On the driver's side the windscreen wiper shaft actually sits in the depression (in water). I queried this with the Fiat Dealer and he smiled and said, "Oh, that's a design fault!" Has anyone worked out a way to drain the water, instead of checking in rainy weather and after washing and soaking up the water with an absorbent cloth or sponge?

There is a drain hole in both side mouldings. On early models this was just a hole which sprayed water onto the alternator and ECU etc. On later ones drain tubes are fitted. The smallest bit of dirt or leaf blocks them. The nearside can be seen but to get a clear view of the offside remove the plate above the headlight (two screws and pull upwards).

Google 'fiat ducato windscreen scuttle drain tubes' and you will get hundreds of hits dating back to 2007. My 2013 model is little better than my 2008 one was.

mate keep the drain holes clear if your concerned pack electrical grease into all the electrical connectors more water enters through the grill when your driving in the rain than you will get in there by washing it ive driven mine through 0.4metres of water and had no problems i tell all the motorhome drivers here in Australia i see to just drive it hard remember the speedo is 10kms out its designed for it go out and enjoy it Cheers Adam

Pipe fittings and garden hose, fittings from B&Q

You will need to remove bonnet, wiper arms and scuttle,

Will require new clips for the scuttle,

Also get a "P Seal" and insert between scuttle and windscreen and silicon it in

If you search my posts, you will see all the photos I put up
Last summer when I did mine

just done mine I used black silicone nozzles cur down and a rubber hose on the bottom .if you drill a hole they just push in from the top and got a small lip so they make a flush fit . you can drill with the bonnet on if you go from the bottom and use a right angle drill attachment

hi all I did mine a few years ago because when we bought it there was only holes on both sides & water was just running on everything from the scuttle so I used a blankoff from a toilet cistern the one for the handles & drilled a hole in the middle some pond pipe from a garden centre used 2 on the right side but the left next to the wiper arm there is not much room so you have to use a smaller pipe both sides I took out the headlights easy then more room to work this is for the euro 4 & I use a longer screen cover which stops all water coming in apart from driving & then the extra pipes work a treat

I also moved the large pipe that fiat fit as the water ran down the back of the wheel under the plastic cover. I cut it off short and put some caravan grey water pipe on it so I ran off on the floor

whats that cover called you fitted is it on all relays

hi all. this what I use from b&q or any plumbers outlet for the scuttle just drill the middle out ( see photo ) & was talking to a guy that had problems with his gear box ( water penetration ) the garage says it's through water draining from the heater intake box coming through the grill on the bonnet so just to be on the safe side I cut the drain pipe & extended it with pond pipe
