Front passenger side footwell wet.

Both rear footwells and driver's footwell utterly and totally dry.
Not sure how long it has been like this, as the rug on top is dry, just the main carpet underneath that's wet.

It's not washer fluid, so it has to be either rain getting in, or condensate from the air con.

Any pointers for either please?
Any other suggestions or thoughts?

Thanks muchly,
Mick.

Check the AC evaporator drain is properly attached and not blocked. There were a couple of posts some time ago on this, I'll try to find them.

(Later) Here's one. Usually seems to be the driver's side however.

Thanks.

Our problem is ONLY the passenger side, so it's not as per that thread on the pipework from the heater box.

As I said, this dampness could have been there a long time. It was only that I lifted the mats out to vac the carpets that I noticed. I've not done that for weeks.

We were away in Brittany a couple of weeks ago and the car was left on the drive. She is parked facing downhill. Whilst we were away, it hammered down for hours here (I believe) so it could possibly be rain penetration.

Unless there's something else that can wet the passenger side (only) ???
I'd like to think it's a defect that can be fixed.

Thanks,
Mick.

Thanks guys.
Could well be the bumper sealing.

I'm going to suck up as much dampness as I can with our wet/dry vacuum cleaner. It's a powerful unit and don't 'arf suck! :)

We're used to wet carpets, as our Clio has suffered from them for years but this fault is the sunroof. We have a polythene sheet gaffa taped over it now and that works a treat. I need to take off the whole sunroof and its frame and seal it properly.

I digress, sorry.
I'm going to suck out the carpet and leave everything alone. I really do think it had something to do with the stormy weather a couple of weeks ago, so hopefully the wetness won't increase.

If it does, it's probably the bumper sealing.

Thanks,
Mick.

The bumper is really simple to remove it might be worth taking it off and adding some sealant to it, probably a guide on the net somewhere.

Sucked it out, maybe got half a pint of water out, could be a pint but no more. Carpet is dry to the touch now.

I'll keep an eye out to see how it goes.

Cheers,
Mick.

Just a little update.

I'm very sure the wet carpet was due to the stormy weather and rain being forced through the LH door seal.

It's rained plenty since - and even been driving driving whilst it's been raining - but it's not been stormy and we've not had any torrential downpours recently.

The carpets are all dry as a bone.

Thanks guys,
Mick.
