Panda (Classic) Restoring my Sisley

Introduction

I thought you guys might like to see my Sisley project in progress.

When I bought the car 3 years ago it had been attacked with bricks and so it had dents all over it! These have now been filled and I am in the process of painting it....Nato Green! (I know some purists will not be happy but I aim to keep everything else 100% Pure Sisley)
This has been slow as I'm using the car daily and I don't have anywhere to spray, except the garden, and I've been waiting for good weather.
I found some almost rust free doors at the breakers and mint condition boot and bonnet. Sprayed them today.
Got the 4x4 Sisley door decals.
Hoping to get a genuine roof rack.
Just got rear bull bars and have front one (a bit dented).

Still lots to do but getting there!
I'll add photos as I go.

enjoy!

Matt
I got the whip aerial fitted and tried to get at least a "coat hanger" reception but no luck.
The previous one (from Halfords) was no better.
Any tips for getting a better signal would be appreciated.

Hi Allen. Thanks. Do you mean an earth from the aerial or the stereo itself?
Electrics are not my strong point!
I don't understand why the aerial has co-axial cable when there is only one piece of metal (a wire antenna) and works when you shove a coat hanger in!. Do I have to use the outer wires as an earth?
help! Please!

Hi mate what you might be short of is a earth wire to the body earth metal part of your car the door the13mm hindge bolts are just right for the job you do not need to cut the main wire that goes directly into you radio/head uni' just need a good earth or metal base for your mast.Any chance of a picture of the the fixing you have made or used?

OK. I have now installed a new stereo and even without earthing the aerial it is getting a good signal. When I get a chance I'll do the earth. Job done. Thanks for the advice.
All that remains to do is: stone chip guard underneath, Waxoil in all the trouble spots, door cards (aluminium chequer plate), re-paint wheels, some wiring....... and naming the car!

I want to give the Sisley a full service including the 4x4 system. Does anyone know a good 4x4 specialist in Kent- near Sevenoaks would be good. Google doesn't seem to show much. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

I found a 4x4 specialist and have had the gearbox and 4x4 drive train/diff serviced. The car is now a bit quieter and the gears are smoother.

I have now sourced the canoe badges and wheel hub covers. However the front ones won't go on! There are protruding rods on the front hubs. Any ideas?

Are your wheel caps proper Sisley ones, if they are 2wd caps they probably won't fit. I've never compared the two so am only taking an educated guess at this, but I would imagine that the drive shaft sticks out farther from the wheel on 4x4's.

Here's a link for some correct ones currently on Ebay....

EDIT...

Just read your post again and realise it's the pin that helps centralise the wheel that's getting in the way, as you said .
You could replace the pin with a normal bolt, the wheel bolts will centralise the wheels once they're on so this pin is not essential.

If you can take the wheel off you can put it on again just nip up the wheel bolts and go round again and nip up again but remember you might have to take them off again. I took the bolt pin out of my hubs on the Trekking because they got in the way of the Fiat alloys if fit (y)

if they come off in good nick you should get away with putting them back on, however they take a hell of a lot of removing as they are usually torqued up massively tight, and for that reason official line is replace every time.
best to have replacements ready if you take them off, then keep the ones you remove if they're OK so you've got a standby next time.

not expensive anyway.

No no no!

By wheel bolts, I mean the four bolts that hold the wheel on. The rim of the wheel cap fits between the four wheel bolts. You just need to take one out, slip the cap between the heads of the other three and replace the one you took out.

OK. Thanks for all the advice.
I think I should clarify the problem.
The offending part 'A' is too long to fit under the original Sisley wheel hub cover.
I am assuming that the car originally had hub covers as there was one included when I bought the car and other Sisleys have them. I have just bought 3 more.
The rear hubs are fine and I have fitted the covers.

What I need to know is;
What is part 'A'?
Can it be removed/replaced/modified?

Thanks
Matt
