General Your Panda's 'unofficial' top speed?!

I did 110mph on my Panda Fire 1L carb noone believed me ! grrr

It was on M6 junctions 15-14 there is a small downhill just about enough to vrooooooooooooooooooom :D woot
I did it 3-4 times when I had my panda. Now my dear Uno with exactly the same engine doesn't even do 95 :(( guess its heavier car..

I've had my 1000CL at 98mph on a slight downhill with the wind against me.

Mind you, i don't think that doing that sort of speed in a Panda, around a motorway corner is a good idea :D

I managed 100MPH on the A43 South of Newbury 1 in 10 :I and the rear box blew [8)]

I just kept pushing her, now she is fit for nothing. I used to love passing Nova's and Metro's on the M40 at 90 odd.

23rd March 2004 and she will go to the scrappers alomg with Stevie's.
J989 JDL 1.0 CLX, Black, may she rest in peace.

One last trip up the M40 :(

Albert Looms here she comes

Managed to get a brief 94 out of my j Reg 1000CLX but having followed a friend somewhere it seems the spedo reads 5 miles out, but i'm sure that it would have done 100 if i had more road (thats 95 then). But you couldn't stustain that you would be perminetly deaf if you did.

BTW an italian car review tested the 1.0fire carbed version in 1989 and the results were:

max speed 139,789 Km/h
0-100Km/h in 15,89sec

so, I don't know how you can reach 100mph on a flat road[:0]

Do I turn fast enough!?

I got 85 out of my 750 and it was still going! I have got a ram air system so it wroks kinda like a very small turbo when you get going. Bikes have used this system for years i wonder why most cars don`t? easy mod to do if anyone wants to look i will post some pics

its dead simple but i will send in pics it just uses the fact that you are going at 70mph+ to feed cold air into the airbox to form a positive presure to `blow` more charge into the engine on bikes it can make upto 8-10 bhp increase but that is at 150mph! must do a bit just don`t expect a rocket ship!

did 98 on the m40 last night!
scared the living daylights out of my mate!
took him all the way from wycombe to london to skin up!
i got a panda 1000cl G reg.
love it to bits!
is it a general panda thing that after about 80 the car kinda floats?
AdrenalinMonkey:p

Hi Adrenalinmonkey.

Yes! they do 'kinda float' at higher speeds.......this is not good !
Suggest you fit lowish profile 155's and a front spoile for a bit of downforce.
I've been shot down before for suggesting Seat Marbella bits; but the bonnet and grill assemblies are quite areodynamic and provide a fair downforce at the higher end. My little 'Seat/Lancia Panda Abarth FIRE'surprises a lot of people on the motorway ![}:)]

HHmmmmmmm

right then here goes

It is very easy to do the mod just drill a hole in the bumper use some heat ducting and run it to the old intake dead easy and if you use a high flow air filter not only will it go a bit faster sound a bit better you won`t have to replace it as you wash it and re oil it

right then

hope this works

yeah made a bit of a improvement but as its only a 750 its never that fast it will sit at 75 all day and will punch up to 85 to overtake stuff without too much trouble but i think it runs out of revs i`m not sure but did the 750 have shorter gearing than the rest of the fire panda`s i.e the 1000cc and the 1.1? try it and see what you think worth chucking a free flow air filter on it aswell cheeper in the long run and it sounds/ go`s better.
