The winner on ebay requested that all the stickers were removed (probably would have requested the same myself if I was in a simmilar position) I removed the first two on the front wings and they came off relatively easy with no problem however he was then taken to the bodyshop for the larger door stickers etc to be removed and using a heat gun and heat lamp made no difference, virtually the whole doors paint/laquer came off with the sticker on both doors as well as the other stickers on the front wings and the tailgate  The bonnet was to be replaced with a brand new paited one as well as the grille so virtually the whole car with the exception of the rear panels and roof needs re-painted :cry: It's a bloody nightmare.

It seems Willie is kicking back.. he doesn't want a new owner. And, whatever the circumstances, I suspect you feel the same.

Perhaps you could contact the buyer and re-negotiate? A full re-spray isn't going to be cheap, but at the end of the day it's just a cosmetic thing.

Cheers,

Plug

Contacted the winner basically telling him that as he won the auction he could still have the car but the preperation time will obviously take much longer, but if he didn't want it as a result of the problems he could back out if he wanted to, so just waiting for the reply.

Richard I removed the two front motoquip stickers without any problems but due to the size of the door stickers thought it best for a professional to remove them. It's probable that the doors were previously painted and a thin coat of laquer was used. Both doors have the same ammout of paint removed as the size of the sticker which was basically the entire lenth and breadth of the top door panel which only now has primer showing.

To be honest mate I don't and never wanted to sell, however due to so many things going on in the background I will just not have the time to keep him in his current condition and the last thing I want is for Willie to suffer as a result, so needs to be with someone willing to spend as much time as I used to keep in the condition he is accustomed. I could keep him in the garage with a cover but he's not used to that and likes to be used on a daily basis with the occasional off road stint.

When I took him to the bodyshop I had no other means to get home so transported the new panda on a dolly behind Willie :) there were a few looks by people seeing a week old 57 plate being transported by a G plate.

It's very very ecconomical :) it also got just about as much electronics as the 7 series had so plenty of toys to keep you ammuzed, it's also far quicker/quieter/smoother, in short night and day difference to the classic BUT still waiting to see it's personality appear. It's already got 700+ miles on it so starting to loosten up once it's past 1000 I can have a proper play with it.

i hope you took a picture of willy towing the new panda:p

i only presumed that he was aware of all the stickers on willie....

I put on the ad that they could have the stickers on or off and to be honest when spending so much on a Mk2 panda I would have asked for them to be removed as well just to check the paint incase they were covering anything up. I just wish that I had removed them so I could have said it was inevitable but then again I trust the body shop implicitly. The bloke works full time in the body shop for ford and does know his stuff. He also pulled and painted Ivor and has done all the previous work on Willie, he has never painted the doors and I have never had to worry about them but can only presume that they have been painted/replaced previously.

He also repaired and painted the rear 1/4 of the 7 series and no-one ever spotted the difference.

Well Willie is back and looks just stunning with the exception of melting one of the plastic door trims that Dave very kindly replaced, long story short the doors and bonnet are a slightly different shade which I think is more to do with new paint than the match since the old paint is nearly 20. Just a few bits to sort now and he'll be near perfect....

Will post some pics when possible as the weather is awful...
