Im looking to get my 08 panda multijet remapped but having checked out the web there seems to be a plethora of firms offering custom remaps. Anybody got any personal recommendations? For your info im located in Birmingham.

i have a 2005 model, LHD, as i am in tenerife, fitted a tuning box chip 565€ and boy does it go, comes in at 3100r/m so takes over from the turbo 2100r/m so i get full buzz up to 4100..

I went with a remap by Angel Tuning in the end. Cost me £200 as I had another car done at the same time. Check out their website by googling angel tuning.

What fantastic difference. The multijet is now positively sprightly, much quicker off the mark and more torque all through the rev range.

Andy from Angel is a great chap to deal with too. Very proffessional and knows what he is doing. He drives a Fiat van with the same engine, tuned of course. Highly recommended.

don't forget that panda's clutch is not strong...even on the standard multijet it tends to fail a lot sooner than in the petrol version. The 70hp multijet is a good engine and if i had one i woundn't tune it for sure but if you really want it, don't forget about the brakes and suspension because the multijet wasn't built to be fast.

have You got a graph maybe?

Is the clutch slipping because of higher torque?

Is the responsible of engine better (shorter time of turbo boosting)

I think the Standard brakes will be perfectly adequate, were only talking +15 bhp which will still be under 100bhp, if you were talking about a 30-50bhp gain then yeh you'd need to think about changes the stoppers.

Then again I've never drive a mj panda so I don't know how crap the brakes are to start with. Are they really that bad?

It rolls alot, but stays quite stable despite the drama.

I'd definitely go with 14" wheels and 185 width tyres, I have no trouble spinning up the inside wheel on tight cornering with the standard tyres on my stock MJ. A good set of wider, non-eco rubber should help that immensely once I've finally worn down the Ecocontacts.

The brakes on the MJ are really good and it in no way feels underbraked now the power is 90+bhp instead of 70bhp. Ive got fiat alloys with 165 tyres which helps the handling a bit I guess. There is no indication of clutch slip even when you floor it. Overall the car is transformed and a whole lot responsive with loads of torque from low revs. Fuel consumption seems unchanged, maybe a tad better. Overall I cant understand why everyone doesnt do this to their MJ's.

A remap is a must on any car only by a reputable company though

i would love the extra power of a remap, but i think the weak clutch would,nt last long.(n) would be fantastic if you could just change a ecu, or use a simple plug in unit, & get instant upgrade of power .whats the cheapest way of doing it?anyone up here on tyneside ? i did fit a set of 14"alloys to my mj. with 175/65/14 tyres.( 185 width seemed to close to suspension parts.) better handling & look better. best regards, steve.(y)

Back in the late 1990s I had a VW Sharan MPV chipped. Back then a new EPROM chip with new map was fitted to the ECU.

The difference was startling. I had more power of course but with at least 80% of peak torque from 1800rpm to 3500rpm it was actually more fuel efficient as well. My average mpg went from 33-33 to 37-38 without having to drive like Miss Daisy.

The kids actually asked why the car was quieter which says a lot. They were right of course because I was now not having rev the thing between gears.

We know the Panda clutch is just about adequate. Does anyone offer a performance upgrade clutch for the MJ engine?

I fitted a 'tuning box' about 7 years ago, and left it set at its default of 3 (out of 10). Performance was noticeably better, and best of all economy went UP during normal driving. Original clutch lasted till 90+k, now on 141k with no engine/gearbox/clutch problems.
Brakes are vented disk front and seem perfectly adequate for the car. Standard tyres a bit skinny if you fancy cornering at speed.... !
