Though we live many 100s of mile apart , I think we have the same GP surgery!!!:(;(;(
The only difference between yours and my Surgery doing exactly the same phone method, is the message tells me I am 31st in line!
We are of an age that can recall when you did get a quick response at GPs, before computers and before billions spent in senior management in NHS.
Re your brothers estate issues, is the solicitor holding the money gaining interest on it whilst dragging out the process?
Probably all organized by the same AI

Regarding my brother's estate. I think the problem is that his affairs are/were very complicated and assessment for probate is proving complicated. On the other hand I don't think he's been particularly putting himself out. Good progress being made now though with a younger, female, partner solicitor being parachuted in who is really stirring things up and I think some resolution will come soon - not before time.

Tricks of the trade here.

1 phone the GP ask to speak to the practice manager, complain about the lack of ability to get an appointment, you'll probably find it easier to get an appointment if you take that route.
2. phoning 111 can actually help. even if the GP practice is open, especially when it is open, 111 often has the ability to book appointments with your GP practice through their system. Just don't say anything like you have chest pain as they will want to send you an ambulance.

Co-codamol comes in 8-500 which you can buy over the counter from a pharmacist. it also comes in 15/500 and 30/500 on prescription. so there are more mild doses which won't bung you up so bad.
Make sure you are drinking plenty if you are using it, that will reduce some of those issues.

Naproxen is technically stronger than ibuprofen, but often people don't notice any difference. Diclofenac is in the same family of medications, but is much more effective, it fell out of favor about 15 years ago and stopped being prescribed as much.

You don't have to see any one specific doctor to have these conversations. you've had a knee replacement in the past. You now have hip problems which are documented. when you next see them, state your current medications are not working. you would like to try...... and also see if they can refer you for some physiotherapy.

Physio's may be able to send you for tests or scans that the GP wouldn't send you for, and this may help speed up the process to get seen by a specialist.

To see a Private specialist, last time I looked was around £200 for a consultation, then you have to pay for any tests or scans on top of that.

What some people do is get the initial consultation done, have the MRI and Xrays done, then they go back to the NHS and bypass a big chunk of the waiting time by being put straight on the list for a hip replacement. Drop me a PM if you do want any help or advice.
Thanks for all that Andy. Hadn't thought to try ringing the practice manager.

I have a small private medical insurance, won't pay for the op itself but I'm going to ring them and see if they can do some of the initial stuff which would short circuit the wait to some extent. Not holding my breath though, probably will just have to bite the bullet and cough up if I want it done soon. A lot will depend on how much sorer it gets and how quickly.

I spotted this very cool public bike repair stand with tools and a pump as well as a holder on the top for your bike.

We need more stuff like this in the community

There's a few of them our way...

Lovely until dogwalkers let dogs do what dogs do...

You'll notice the height the tools dangle at...shame as my son can't pass one on his bike without wanting to "fix" it.

My Smile: Home after what's the longest bit of driving I've done in a very long time...mainly as there's been a small child kicking about and they don't tend to make cannonballing easy.

However trip for his birthday...so 220 each way with some overnight stays in between.

Don't usually go down west coast so M6 and Tebay services were a nice change..

Also featured an accidental trip into Wales followed by Birthday boy blowing chunks on a restaurant table...erm well we'll laugh about it one day.

Surprised to make it on a single tank of fuel as last time I went here in the Mazda which had a bigger tank and I took a shorter route it was gasping at 424 miles this was home 8th of a tank left and showing 100 miles range. Actual brim to brim 51mpg..not bad for a car mainly meant for round town.

Trawling eBay
I now drive a '3 series'.... Panda 3 series LOL
4X4 prop shafts from £238
169 4×4 rear trailing arms new £199 each
319 rear wiper arm and blade from £7.38
Panda running light bulbholders £23

and on the downside. LUK clutch slaves £23. Pretty clearly fake as packaging is not how they do it.

At least he will not fly off with your pasty and if he dumps on your car it will be small, unlike the seagulls our way.
Which reminds of someone I knew who was proudly washing his brand new Triumph TR7 convertible, telling his wife that if she was out driving it and that happened to immediately wash it off to prevent damage!
She replied "what if there is no water?" and was told "I don't care if you have to pee on it, wash it off!". So shortly after they were both driving with the roof down around the local fishing port of Brixham when a seagull deposited a large present on him. Laughing she asked him if he wanted her to wash it off?:):):)

Getting them to stop kicking the back of your seat is always a good start. Great place to stop isn't it. Usually our second from last stop on our way home from Devon, then a quick loo visit where the A702 branches off from the M74 at Abington.

It's my own fault I've missed it.

I had what can only be described as an awful experience with the A69 about 20 years ago with a 54bhp Punto and 4 mates in the car. Didn't have the power to use the crawler lanes 😂 trucks piling up behind it.

So since I've usually went over Hartside pass when heading over to the west as from where I am it's about 5-10 mins extra to go via the North Pennines.

Oddly enough with the Turbo C3 A69 was entirely pleasant, Although still feels a bit odd to head all the way up to Carlisle then drive coast to coast back to this side and head south again back to here while normally I cut the corner off and drop onto/come off the M6 at Penrith having stopped at a little dales village (or indeed Hartside cafe before it burned down) for lunch instead.

I find the A66 is a nicer drive, and only really use the A69 if going to newcastle area.

Went & picked up the rear lights seals this morning where including VAT Fiat relieved me of £128, got home & fitted them so hopefully that will stop the leak🤞 if it doesn't I'll scream 😂 & fitted the new genuine drivers side rear light that I got new old stock of eBay to replace the cracked one, little Scarlett is coming together quite nicely I think, only thing that seems to be letting her down now is the rear bumper with the lacquer peel & where I think at some point she's had a very slight tap in a car park or something similar as the bumper has snapped off where it mounts to the bracket as you can see the screw in the bracket & it's snapped off a little further back so I think I'll keep an eye out for a matching colour bumper

Second Panda axle and spring pans treated with Bilt Hamber. Last done 2020 and you would not know it had ever had rust protection on it, let alone paint! I have decided I prefer the UB wax which is blacl rather than the UC which is clear. I prefer not to be able to see the rusty bits through the wax. 2 More to go.
