The only thing I would change is the engine. Probably I am not used to turbo engines but to me it drives like a dog. Reminds me of people putting racing cams on to get more power, you get the power but you can hardly drive it across the car park. To me a 4x4 should have plenty of torque from idle, so maybe a 48V system for "torque filling" on a small NA engine would be the way to go.

Sounds like either a sick multijet

Or a twinair ..thats not been run.in yet.. in full powermode ( it DOES have a 'fast.road cam')

The one I drove was few thousand miles TA. I don't think it lacked power, it was more the difficulty in extracting it: i.e. the need to "book a reservation" for any strong acceleration. It is subjective and could just be me, but I drove a Suzuki 1.0 boosterjet shortly after with no similar issues, just a slightly languid punch compared to a crisp initial response of a typical NA engine. I guess it could be me, the throttle mapping or the strange engine noises (I don'[t believe in looking at rev counters). Wish I had had more time to figure it out but I could not buy it based on how it felt.

Sounds to me like you had (the now default) ECO mode switched on. The TA accelerates brilliantly with it off.

Twinairs are massively tight motors.. at less than 5k miles I can imagine it being a major disappointment

(I find that Eco smooths the supply of oomph )

The tight engine and 70+ bhp once the turbo spins will make a nasty 'all.or nothing' experience

My punto has been great for 60k

But the panda we bought 2 years ago is still annoying me.. it freed off massively going from 10k to 20k

But it just doesnt drive like my punto :)

The ECO button was the first thing I checked. As I said I don't think it necessarily lacked power (I have no other TA to compare with mind), it was more a question of how to access the power. Maybe I need to try one with 10k + miles for reference.

i bought one new and sold it after 60 or so miles. Just didn't like the delivery, just as i don't in diesels. I would probably have gotten used to it but i just like to skip gears and so forth. It's just not for everyone.

Anyone tried the £25k 500e yet?

60 miles!? Is that a typo? Surely you can't get used to a car in that short a period?

Mine's loosened up loads in the 1100 miles I've had mine, being previously owned by an older chap probably hadn't helped much.

Like you ai like to skip gears or block change and find it easy enough to go 1-3-5 from a standstill.

Hi.
After 60 miles you must have lost a fortune?
You cannot really tell how a vehicle feels until its loosened up and you adapt your driving style to a new car, they are all different and once upon a time two cars that were the same make and model could behave totally different.

I don't believe you
No-one buys a new car and gets rid of it after 60 Milles that's just plane stupid
How much money did you chuck away?
Obviously you have more money than sense
Why not admit you said that just to get a reaction
