General What is this please?

I had a rattling sound one engine bay, so I took it to a garage to have it looked at. They found a piece of metal rattling around, but didn't know what it was. Googling suggests it is either a "belt keeper" (?) or a crank handle. Anyone know for sure please?

Hi. It's a metal bar. Fiat Ducato panel van converted to a campervan. 3.0 multijet reg 2009. It looks to me like some kind of crank handle, but I can't find anything that looks like it on the Internet.

How big is that?

It can be anything. Some kind of support, anything. It could also be a piece of metal you drove on and it bounced onto the van Which part of the van they found it?

It wedged on top of the off side front chassis rail, and is about 37cmin length. It's all very odd lol.

Huge. Like some kind of support.

Been there a couple of times, have a couple of photos, but can't see nor recall anything that looks like that. Of course I have another engine, but most of the parts in the engine bay is common.

could it be for a wind-out awning. looks home made. Ian.

I think it’s a handle for winding up a scissor Jack, but I’d go with the suggestion that it got pinged up from the road when you drove over it
