Anyone out there recognise this l/h door mirror wiring on a 2017 model year 150 Multijet based Benimar Mileo 201 motorhome?

I can't find anything online that matches this on either Google or YouTube. The mirror has previously been replaced by a Fiat Professional main dealer and I'm wondering if the foam wrapped block is something that was added then? An aerial booster/amplifier perhaps? As per examples on YouTube I expected to find the wiring for the heating and movement of the mirror and wiring for the DAB aerial but am confused by this extra wiring.

I am having to change the mirror after it was hit and badly damaged by a bus in the Netherlands hence this enquiry. I have bought an aftermarket replacement mirror without the DAB aerial as the DAB reception has always been poor and I intend, if it's possible, to use a windscreen DAB aerial once I've worked out how to connect to the radio. Whether this will cause any issues with the ECU recognising the changes and throwing up a warning light I am not sure - any knowledge and advice on this gratefully received.

More detail is needed here? What am I looking at in those pictures? is that in the mirror or inside the cab? the foam is to stop vibration, all those small wires going into it suggest it could be some sort of module, but as I am not sure where this is in the car, I can't really say what It might be.

Thanks for your help - much appreciated. Here are some more pictures which I hope better show the location of the wiring in question.

I have now disconnected the foam wrapped module in the armrest location and assumed that if I released it's earth lead from it's mirror retaining bolt location it would enable me to pull the 'module' or w.h.y and cable out of the armrest. However the unit with it's attached earth cable won't come out as, out of sight in the door internal space between the hole near the earth lead attachment bolt and a slightly smaller hole obscured by the armrest, there appears to be a wire that splits off the of the earth lead, routed to the rubber gland that the main mirror control cable/s pass through from the door to the body. This prevents the 'module' from being extracted from the armrest end. The 'module' is too big to go through the aforementioned holes so can't be extracted when the mirror is removed and prevents the mirror being fully detached. The wire splitting off might be the power supply for the 'module' possibly. I don't know where this lead is plugged in but if I can find it and release it then I think the 'module' and cable will be able to be pulled out.

Any suggestions? Thanks again for helping.

You’re pulling the wiring apart inside the door but asking about the mirror? I’m confused
The wiring connections for the mirror and the DAB aerial inside the mirror are mounted in the door. I understand and can deal with the removal and replacement of the mirror with it's mirror glass servos etc no problem. I don't recognise the foam wrapped module referred to in my post. I think it might be associated with the DAB aerial but can find nothing on Google or YouTube at all to refer to. Nonetheless thanks again for the correspondence but I think my next move is probably to go to a auto electrician.

So this maybe why I am confused, if the old mirror is damaged it should be easy to see what wires are connecting where in the mirror, just trace the wires from their respective plugs.

The lack of aerial in the new mirror could be solved by moving the aerial from the old mirror over to the new, assuming it’s not too badly damaged, the larger plugs with thick grey and blue wires are likely to be the aerial wires.

The presnce of the module or anything else shouldn’t be a concern if you just plug the new mirror into the existing loom in the door, unless the new mirror has no electrics and all in which case what the various wires do won’t really matter.

It’s hard to look at something wrapped in foam and know what is does especially in motor homes which can have all sorts of modifications. So really the question is what are you trying to achieve that you need to specifically know what each wire does? If the old mirror is bashed to hell then just follow the wires to their respective functions and plugs in the door

I decided to fit the new mirror and leave the module where it is. Unlike the original configuration where the mirror's 8 terminal plug plugged into the module and the module then plugged into the door mounted socket I've simply plugged the mirror directly into the door mounted socket. As I can't extract the module without butchering it's cable and earth strap I decided to try the new mirror's functions and as they all work, I have simply left the module in situ. It's not connected to anything other than what I think maybe it's 12v power feed. The aerial would have been an 'ignition on' device so there should be no issues with battery drain. By choice there is no aerial in the replacement mirror (previous mirror aerial was rubbish and the price was a fraction of the aerial equipped model!) so I have no radio as such. I use BBC Sounds for my infrequent radio listening anyway as it gives a better performance via 4G etc than the DAB radio ever did - too many 'signal unavailable' instances. There will be instances where there's no 4G available so it's not the full answer but it'll do until I can fit an aerial to get FM back perhaps. All OK at present then - hopefully no further problems will ensue!
