I have a Fiat Ducato Campervan.

When I wash the windscreen or when its been raining, I get water collecting in the front scuttle, so just below the windscreen wiper motor pivots and where there is a rubber seal which the bonnet touches when closed. Image attached.

I can't work out how this water is supposed to drain away.

Eventually it gets so full that it finds its way into the engine compartment and on to things like the top of the battery which isn't great.

Does anyone know if there is actually a drain system for this scuttle and if so where it is? If not is there a mod which can be done to get this water safely drained away?

My x244 has the same basic body as your x230. On the x244 the water can drain freely to either side behind the bonnet seal. Any water leaking under the LHS grille into the heater fresh air inlet, is drained away via a soft rubber hose which unfortunately ends above the gearbox. This drain hose can be seen if you peer under the coolant reservoir.

Thanks for the info. I'll look for the hose and check it's not blocked.
I guess the problem I have is that enough water is collecting at the other side (the battery side) and it's falling on to the battery. It's strange that there is not a drain point at either end.
Does that make sense or am I missing something?

On my x244 the water can flow either way below the windscreen, but there are two raised sections wher extra clearance is created over the brake fluid, and coolant reservoirs.. There is no obvious gap at the rear RHS corner where water could flow into the engine compartment. Perhaps alterations in this area were inludeed in the x244 facelift.

ISTR that this drain was replaced with one slightly longer with a dog-leg to avoid it going on the gearbox. I'm pretty certain one of my 'vans had this from the factory, and it could be obtained as a retrofit.

Subject to not having crawled underneath to inspect my 2006 x244, I have the memory that the discrarge point is still about level with the top of the gearbox.
