Hi,

Can anyone tell me where to get a VVT valve for a 2017 Fiat 500 1.2?

Sounds easy enough but suppliers match my registration to the incorrect part. It may be the dealer can provide the part but want £350 + VAT!!!

Challenge with this is the part on the car (left side of picture) has a different configuration but just about every other VVT valve out there. Ordering a part matched to my registration just gets a part sent which does not fit (picture on right).

1st Google that part number. There are a few specialists that may help Shop4Parts may be able to help, Also Alfashop. Your best bet mey well be a breaker. I see the difference. All mine are the common ones. I am wondering if ePer might cast light on interchangeability, even if you had also to swap the cam cover too. £350 is a hell of a cost for a small thing like that.

Is the unit defunct? I do find they respond to cleaning. I do our with carb cleaner and it seems to get the gunge out and restores performance.

I think they are open on tickover and close as engine revs rise.

Im not sure if there is a test for these as they require oil pressure as well as electrical action.

Almost no info at all in the Haynes Manual.

Has a metal sleeve with 3 orings pulled out of the cover with the solenoid?

Another thought. Is the bit on the right inside the sleeve with three o rings? A long shot I know. I have a 2017 Panda and its the one on the right in your pic. Autodoc also list these and have a price range. I have looked on ePer and cant find any differrent ones but it only goes upto 2012. I would go ask a dealer for the part number for your specific vehicle and armed with that, look elsewhere. Some of these are available for £35 If your is a different type sod law says it will be more expensive. Hopefully someone more expert will be along with more constructive ideas. I cannot find any alternative looking parts. Have a very good look and see if yours is inside that sleeve and actually the same. Very odd.

EVERY image that I find online for that part shows the model on the right in your picture.
Maybe they are two separate parts? Meaning that the solenoid in the image on the right fits into the part with the three O rings?

I don't know.....but it could explain the situation .
I spent a while in ePer and also googled all the part numbers all numbers led to the same part. I couldnt find anything that looks like the OP's solenoid to unless they changed the part can't see any alternative. I always use a small thin screw driver to ease mine out when cleaning so have never experienced this issue. Certainly interested to know the outcome. If it is indeed a sleeve, I think it will need careful positioning on replacement to ensure the hole in the sleeve is lined up with any associated oilway. Dont just shove it back in without a very careful inspection first.

The whole cam cover must be different to the Panda. Need a dealer part number. The part number in the photo defaults to the smaller bore actuator. Maybe Fiat customer service could help identify the correct part number if a dealer can't. My conc;usion after some more time searching is that either this is an odd ball, a new style part or as suggested inserted in a sleeve which fits into the cam cover. I cannot find any reference to any other part, in fact the actuator solenoid is shared by many other cars for many production years so must be the same however unlikely it seems. Clearly there are lots of suppliers and the price is around the £35 mark. See if the outer part with the 3 o rings can be gently levered off. Note the the hole position. Try a strong but thin knife blade. If it is indeed a sleeve its just a single O ring that will hold the actuator in it, On the panda the actuator fits inside the cover which is metal and its inside a tube in the casting. If you have a plastic cam cover then Im pretty sure it has a sleeve with the 3 O rings that fits into the cam cover and the actuator is in fact inside that sleeve.

Or can anyone htrow any other light on this please? @koalar ??
