General V5.41 Software Now Installed

If it's already upgraded and working OK, then no need to do anything (apart from re-making the CD in case you want to change anything - language, voice, etc.).

After my software update the quality of the phone has probably got worse. I did not seem to have the bad quality that other people were getting before this upgrade. According to the Eurovan site it does seem that people who had fairly good quality now do not and people who had bad quality have better quality. I may now have to try the foam trick.

I guess they are getting everyone to the same level of 'badness'! :(

Work have kindly splashed out on a new SonyEricsson T610 for me a couple of days ago. Imagine my surprise when I opened the box and also found a hands free car kit as well with free installation voucher.

As already discussed earlier in this thread, I have tried using the built in phone but have poor sound quality and have also managed to lose the SIM card holder as well. If the sound quality was better and Orange provided a dual sim option, then I would probably pursue this aspect, but currently neither are likely to happen in the short term.

The last couple of weeks have seen me using a bluetooth headset which has been ok, but is not a long term answer (at least, that is what my right ear is telling me).

Has anyone had a car kit installed? If so, have they managed to get it to mute the radio and play through the speakers rather than get a separate speaker mounted. Whereabouts have thye put the handset holder, as the unique styling of the dashboard doesn't have an obvious place for the holder to go.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I've been happy with the built-in phone since the upgrade to v5.41, so have not investigated further, however when I initially got my car last year, the contractor that Vodafone corporate use were confident they could add a Nokia kit and fully integrate it....

There is a clip available that straddles the air vent that you can mount the phone cradle on.

I've seen one on the Peugeot. Not sure where it came from though.

Paul

I bought a clip years ago that just clips onto any air vent in any car - as long as you have a phonecase that has a belt-clip, easy to slip on and off.

Obviously you want to make it more permanent, especially if integrated into the car itself.

Doing a Google of the phase "non damaging bracket for handsfree kit" brings up quite a few companies offering them. They are model specific and around 20 quid.

Paul

Excellent - how does the phone actually attach to the mount then? I have never them before.

EDIT - Ah, I presume you then get the phone holder, which screws into the mount! Ah indeed.

Where is the 5.41 download?

I tried the Eurovan site, registered and couldn't find any download section.

Christian

Just to update you all - hands free kit now fitted - doesn't look too bad. Only problem is that it doesn't come through the speakers as it messes the wires up for the satnav - I had bought a mute lead but it doesn't have the correct plug on the end for the RT3 unit!

Oh well - at least I am audible now and not frying my right ear.

Well I've had no real problems since going up to 5.41 - only an occasional comment of "it sounds a bit like you're in a bar" as I answer the phone at 90+mph driving down the motorway. My old Nokia hands-free car kit in my previous car used to sound a lot worse at that sort of speed......

Hi All

New member alert.......

We got our Fiat Ulysse about 2 months ago and its been back in garage for the last 5 weeks (Another story altogether).

Anyway one of the reasons it went back was because we could not get the A/V to work. Guess wot.. it still dont work. So after reading all about the A/V bits on this and another forum I will be heading off to my local dealer at southend tomorrow.

As for the real reason for replying is to say that i have followed the links etc to get the upgrade to 5.41, but everytime i try to download from ev2 it says that i dont have permission or the right privlages even though i have registered with them. Any ideas?

Cheers
Gary :bang:
