General V5.41 Software Now Installed

Hi chaps, I am currenly on version 5.3. Does anyone know if I Can go straight to the 5.4 upgrade or do I have to go through 5.31 & 5.32 first? Is this upgrade for connect (mono) users too? Ta.<font face="Verdana"></font id="Verdana">

5.3 [?]. I would imagine that the latest update would be fine, and over-write whatever version already in there. 5.4 was some time ago, so 5.41 is the one to go for.

It is definitely for mono users as well.

Never having done this upgrade thing before and assuming I follow the instructions, what is the likelihood of failure and does it knacker the unit?

I understand from my local Fiat garage that you can't go backwards with these things!

Likelihood of failure is minimal if you ensure your PC can read the CD-R before you install it in the RT3 unit......

If it does go wrong, then unit will potentially be knackered [V]. They cost about £2k, unless you can convince them to replace under warranty......

I know I will try mine later on, can't see it being a major issue.

After all, when I did 5.4 with the Fiat technician, I was telling him what to do!!!!

Fiat UK do keep an eye on this forum, so if you plan to do it yourself and it goes wrong, expect them to ask you to pay if there's any way they can link your posts here to the car with the fault and you........

If in doubt, ask the dealer to get the CD (assuming they don't already have it) and do it for you.....

I'm still waiting for my dealer to let me know they have their copy in!

Looks like you'll have to join EV2 to get the file now, but if this is the way they react (rather than taking a more civilised approach), then personally I'd go elsewhere!

But you could ask us before you placed this link here. We don't have a unlimited funding of the eurovan2 forum and it normal that we calculate our traffic on our members and this RT3 software was not placed public but in a members only area and this is not for nothing.

Interesting about the link removal. Most of us where already aware you had to be a member to get it, as can be seen above. I am a member, and went through normal procedures to download it. The fact the link John_K posted took you straight to the ftp was unintentional surely, and the outcome slightly harsh for what is in effect a minor offence!!!! I would understand if it was a Pay-Membership, but it isn't [!]

Everyone - be aware that the original CD image on the EV2 forum may have problems. They've posted a new version that is supposed to be error free. If you are thinking of doing this upgrade, go and re-download the image from the EV2 members forum and make a new CD before doing so!
