Can someone do me a favour please? I am trying to find out what tyre size should be fitted to panda steel wheels (I have 127 alloy wheels) the ones on my alloys are 165 65 r13, what size tyres would the steel wheels which came on my parade from new be?

The second part of my question is would steel wheels from a 2003 plus panda fit? Cheers!

Standard fit on Pandas of that time was 155/65 or 155/70. Either is fine. I think 135/80s had gone the way of the dodo by then. The steelie from a Mk3 Panda should be fine but the tyre might well be a higher profile which would upset gearing and speedo. I think the Mk3 had something like a 155/80 or though I could be wrong

As standard they came with 135/80 with 155/65 being an option. I think most later cars had 155/65, although I've seen a few with the pizza cutter 135s. 155/70s are cheaper and easier to get hold of now, so is probably your best bet, they also have the advantage of making the speedo spot on.

Mk3 steels will be fine(y)

Thanks guys :) this will probably be a silly question too, but would I be able to put 155/65 tyres on mk3 steel wheels? Just out of curiosity as I'm not sure about wheels. Sorry if thats a silly question!

my Sisley, Talon and the grey 4x4 came with 145/80/R13 when i first got them. the marbella that my brother has, has got 135/80/R13. however i really think that it does need wider tyres. the under-steer from 135's are something else.

155's will fit no problem. hell 165's will fit but you may get them to rub on the wheel arches on the rear if you have a load of people in the back.

one thing to remember when when you get wider wheels is that the steering will become more heavy with wider wheels, but you will get oodles more grip. very handy in the wet i can tell you. (it must be down to the rims that my sisley has, as i do believe i could get away with 185's on it before they would rub! maybe larger! heavy steering would become an issue though.)

the difference in grip between my sisley with 175's and the marbella with 135's is massive.

So do you think mk3 steels and tyres (155/80/13) would look ok? I would prefer 155/65/13 and original panda steel wheels, but I can get mk3 ones easily locally, just trying to weigh up my options.

:yeahthat: for the 750's, although I think all other mk2's have the 155/65. This is only going from memory of the handbook though.
ST's certainly came with 135s as standard, 155 was an option fit. Even the Y10 Fila only had 135s and that was a 'luxury' model compared to the Panda. You're just too used to the selectas that needed the extra rubber to tame all the extra horses in the 1108

Post ''92 facelift that may have changed though, Scruffbag had 155s and he was a pretty plain Jane '93 CLX.

Haha, too true :slayer:

TBH I've got 155s on the 750L at the moment as I've pinched them from one of the Selecta's. Will go back to 135s when they need replacing though. Better MPG innit :p

I don't want to wee on the burning bit but I think MK3 steelies are 4x100 pcd like the newer Punto, I may be wrong though - happens a fair bit :)

Mk3 will be 4x98 Andy.

The Grande Punto has 4x100pcd which is unusual for a Fiat. I hesitate to say why, as it means my Abarth has just a hint of GM in it!! :yuck:

As far as I know the Grande Punto (and later Punto's), and the latest Bravo are the only Fiats with 4x100, so pretty much everything you find which isn't late Punto will be fine stud-wise. (y)

I feel your pain with the GM relationship! Glad they have kept the original pcd on the Panda cheers for that Gav
