anyone know what pressure at tesco i need to put in my jtd (i.e. 36 on the lcd thing)?

I usually stick to 2.2 bar(32 psi) in the front & 2.0 bar(30 psi) in the back.
Seems fine, mind you I only have the 16" wheels.

Re: Tyre Pressure

I've an Abarth on 215/45/17 alloys. Rounding up it should be 34 PSI from the bar conversion, I go one up than that to 35 all round.

Both under and over inflation is dangerous, but I think +/- 5% should be ok. What I would do is get a proper calibrated hand held tyre pressure gauge as those in garages, supermarkets etc can be woefully inaccurate. A blow out at motorway speeds due to under or over inflation can be "fun" if not fatal! (n)

Key here, as most people seem to do, are regular checks.

Who changes their tyre pressures when they go on holiday 4 up with loads of luggage? (bet hardly anyone).

17" wheel tyre pressures

Recently fitted 17" claws with 215/45/17 to my 1.4 active, can anyone (without laughing, please) tell me the correct tyre pressures?

Re: 17" wheel tyre pressures

Hello Dave, sorry to be a complete div but i assumed that as there is less actual tyre i.e. lower profile they might be different to the 195/65/15 that I replaced. Am I to assume that whatever the pressures were for the 15's the 17's will be the same? (You may have deduced that my technical knowledge is slightly limited :) ) p.s cubics ?????

Re: 17" wheel tyre pressures

according to the handbook the correct pressure is 2.3 bar for 215/45 R17 87w at normal load. this is higher than smaller tyres. i think that works out around 32psi.

Re: 17" wheel tyre pressures

Hi for the Abarth it works out at around 33.5 PSI or 34 for Cash ;) all round.

BUT you have a car that will be a little lighter (in weight not colour!! :shakehead ) so I would err on the lower side say 33 or 32 certainly at the front, but I wouldn't think 28 PSI is high enough.

Maybe your local Fiat Dealer could advise ( :nono: ), ok so that was a bad idea!! What about the place who did the wheels/tyres for you?

Don't forget to check all pressures on cold tyres, best to do it first thing in the morning after leaving all night.

Re: Tyre Pressure

Acordis, my alloys fit that measurement that you have just put up at 215/45/17. What is the standard for that fit - 34psi. I checked mine yesterday and the back tyres were at 23psi for some reason which I thought was ridiculously low and this is the first time ive pressured them since the cars ownership in my name (having owned the car for nearly 2 weeks now), so I topped up front and back at 32psi. What is the max that you have inflated to, how often do you inflate them, and if you dont do it for a while, would it drop as low as 23psi?

Re: Tyre Pressure

hey,

You may have a slow leak or something because tyre pressure shouldn't normally go down, mine don't and i only drive my car once a week(n) if that
I would seriouly get them checked out, not a problem now but will be later on (n)

Re: Tyre Pressure

done a scan of the pressures from the manual, sorry its crap quality but you should be able to read it.

Hi All you Schumacher GP owners, Does anyone know the recommended or optimum pressures for the Continental Contact Sport 2 tyres? Or come to that, does anyone know how to even make them warm?:)

Re: Tyre pressure?

Hi all, just searching the forum, I have a 3dr 1.6 16v active and I was looking at the tyre pressures in the handbook quoting 1.9 bar which i think is around 28/29 psi which I thought was a bit low. My previous Fiesta was kept at 35 and above. As people have mentioned is 32psi the best or should I stick with what the handbook says?
