Hmmm, I wonder if he has an iso of a service manual CD ;)

I always like to have the official manuals - it's nice to know how the manufacturers think things should be done, and I always service my cars according to them when they get a bit older..

Just caught up with this thread, and thought of another factor with the TA. As well as being very free revving, you don't get the same audio cues as in 4 cyl. cars - as the engine only fires once per rev. it doesn't sound as if it's revving as high as it is. I hit the rev limiter on the test drive, and I've never done that in any car before. As said above, comes in quite softly, though.

As the gearboxes differ, I think it's highly unlikely that the FD ratios are exactly the same, which explains a fair amount. Would be interesting to get the proper FIAT manuals for the car which will have the tech info in it. Wonder if you can buy them from FIAT?

Reviving an 'old' thread...

Final drive ratio is 4.07 for the 1.4 and given that the TA is at 4000rpm at 90mph which is the same as the 1.4 the TA has the same final drive.
1.2 & MJ drivers might be able to confirm from the worksheet if their final drive is the same but I would be surprised if the FD ratio was not the same across the 500 models.
