Yes, an interesting point, I will search and see what I can find out. Of course wet road grip doesn’t worry a lot of us in our 500s but given your ‘any road in any weather’ style I thought it worth pointing out. It’s always the first rating I look at when buying tyres.

The odd thing is that despite the variety of road surfaces and climatic conditions I drive in, the only times the car has ever had the occasional jittery lack of adhesion to the road have been when the tyres are under-inflated or in strong side-winds. In my experience tyre pressure needs to be very accurately up to spec.

100% agree, tyre pressures do need to be carefully monitored on these cars, rear engined cars always seem to be very susceptible to side-winds; I recall some truly hairy moments in a Sunbeam Imp Sport many years ago (n)

I wouldn’t fancy your little camper van in much of a wind

True...no combination of tyres is going to help there. With a front overhang to catch the wind, a heavy rear engine and box and extreme top-heaviness, it's going to be a very sedate experience in which to drive. It's more of a living-shelter which can also move rather than a vehicle that provides accommodation.[emoji3]

Peter, I think I’d be looking for something with a better wet road rating than an F, given the lack of weight on the front wheels of a 500. Just my two pen’th :chin:

Have you not seen the Under bonnet of Peters car....???
"Everything but......." springs to mind

However this has now thrown up another possibility for the concrete in the front of my one car!!

You’re not driving it right then?

....good point....new year resolution....I must practice more. (Or fit some tyres which are "Z"-rated for wet weather grip. [emoji3])

Thinking about it more, maybe I am a bit over- cautious...the most powerful car I've ever driven wouldn't be more than 100hp and my everyday car for five years was a 10 hp Austin....... maybe that's one of the reasons I'm still around, despite living in the land of twisting roads and now heading for my 60th birthday. Ah, I just love the 125s
On the 500 They give it that real classic look, and when I first got mine with the 135 it just didn’t look quite right!
Took a while for me to work out what it was, and ended up getting some of the Cinturatos which I was happy with

I did drive in the wet, but not an awful lot of miles :(

I can't disagree with any of that. But the price is creeping up for such little rings of rubber and the 135's are so much easier to get hold of and at a decent price in the UK.
I'm always game to find things out for myself and it will be interesting (for me!) to see how these things look and perform.[emoji3]
