Technical Subwoofer?

I have upgraded the head unit, two door speakers and tweaters but found on a recent trip up to Glasgow that it is still hard to hear the stereo with the top down. I have read that the optional sub-woofers that can be fitted behind the seats makes all the difference. I am thinking of doing some interior work and would like to add these speakers first. Has anyone been able to obtain the box from Fiat or elsewhere? I have also seen on ebay a replacement console box with speakers attached. Has anyone installed one of these? Cheers.

The original Base box from Fiat is hard to get hold of in the UK, I have seen a few this year on eBay but the cost is $$$ even for a secondhand one. I dont know if Fiat still sell them or even how much, as its a special edition part. If you call Fiat let us know but I think the delivery time will be months.

I am after the bass box for my B for over a year now :-(

surely you would be better just getting a sub fitted into the OE space?what sort of space do oyu have to fit it it in?

I did think about it, but I would like an original Fiat base box that I can put better speakers in. Just my choice but If I cant get one this year I will give up and build one.

fair enough but more than likely the speaker wont be the highest quality,plus the box may not be suited to fitting other speakers in re air required.
perhaps post in the ice section as the ice guys could advise especially if you can give space dimensions

Thats true, I have never got my hands on one so not sure if its possible to upgrade the speakers as I am sure the original set will be crap.

If not I will build one myself as I want it to look as original as possible.

Will check with Fiat tomorrow on availability and post response. Have seen an original box without speakers so I assume you can upgrade from the Fiat ones. Looked at building one but beyond my skills with the relatively tight space and custom job is pricey.

I:

- replaced the floor level speakers with decent Alpine mid-bass units
- added 4-inch full-range low profile speakers in the doors
- replaced the tweeters with Alpine (came free with the mid-bass above)
- added a low-profile powered sub wedged behind the passenger seat

Still using the original head unit (JVC) and now I can cruise at 90+, top down, ears full of my fave tunes without distortion. Sounds fantastic. Cost me less than £150. I'll dig out the invoice and look up the model numbers.

Nah... too big. I tried one of these and the only place it would sensibly fit was under the dash, passenger side... but I found this restricted the footwell too much so I sent it back.

My Sub is one of these but I acquired mine from the local Carnoisseur for about £55 plus fitting (which was a doddle as it doesn't need a dedicated live feed).

Fits nicely between passenger seat and bulkhead, without restricting the seat at all. Because it fires out of the ends, the seat can go hard up against it without any ill-effects.
