nope, would fit tho, wouldnt go very fast. The 550 came with the feindishly complicated 4 cam engine, output around 130 140 bhp from1500cc in the fifties.. Pretty impressive.

fitted all 3 engine mounts with yellow strong flex today.... tomorrow ill be removing them.

cant imagine the car lasting long with them... anything under 3k causes the whole car to shake. the foot wells vibrate so much it hurts your feet. dashboard rattles. mirror is a blur and also sounds like the glass is about to fall out.

might just fit a standard rear gearbox mount and see if if thats enough to calm it down

All i'm going to say is wow...

Mine only vibrates badly on idle up to 2k, as soon you have the power down it's manageable.

But then with my cambelt so close to the headlight bolt i'm not willing to take any chances in terms of movement.

Thanks

the front gearbox mount on the sei is differento to the cinq.

So may be get the sei plate and mount to try ? But then you would order a new insert.

I'll got a sei mount u can have for just postage, if you want to try it ?

thanks ming. not keen on the sei setup.

I think fitting a standard or even filled standard rear mount will help. I started the car with just the two front and standard rear and it sounded normal.

where now when I start it I can hear the actual starter motor whine when turning over and a lot more engine noise.

I think the front mounts are fine as its on very tough part of the car. the rear mount is on rather thin metal and on the floor so will act like a drum.

I also doubt the engine will move about any more with a standard mount as the fronts are so ridged. the engine never even moved when I unbolted the mount.

sounds like there may be play in the insert? not in the material but a small gap for the engine to vibrate in? if the insert was snug, and the mount bolted on you shouldnt get a jack hammer feelign in a 4cyl 4stroke.

this is going to sound silly, and i hope not offensive but you have bolted the rear mount back on tight? i know people who have forgoten and got a very similar thing to what your describing, a hard vibration that increased with revs. obviously with the odd harmonic spot where it nearly goes away.

if its loose 3.5k revs seem to be the worst of it iirc

exactly what I was thinking. wondering if somehow metal from the engine side and metal from the car side is touching within them.

yeah all was greased up.

think ive kinda fixed it.

the rear mount must not be original fiat part.
Ive borrowed one from a mate and it went together smoother and vibes are a lot less. still rough at low rpms but my front gearbox mount is nakard so need a new one of them (if anyone has one ;))

even if a new front mount cuts the vibs in half i still wouldnt recommend these to anyone who uses there car for anything but track use. try the red ones instead.

I have the front inserts in yellow and found that I had to remove the bottom half [domed part] and replaced it with a worn down angle grinder disc to take up the slack, this was not as harsh and an afterthought was that I should have just got the cheaper and softer red ones

Am contemplating getting a rear mount insert, and again would probably just use the top half as under load the engine is pulling that mount downwards

nah... got a lightened flywheel which is balanced.
but to be fair it was not engine vibrations its more the pulses of power from the engine.

it was only as soon as you start driving. and stopped after 3k and feels smoooooth

might be just turbo centos... i dont think there is anyone else running them in a turbo cinq where there is much more power at low rpms

pfft, simple answer then, keep it above 3k all the time ;)

Are the red ones still stiffer than the standards, just nowhere near as harsh as the yellows for road use?

How about using the yellow ones elsewhere and just the red ones on the engine mounts on a road car?
