General Strongflex

General Strongflex

ive been putting some thought into aluminium trailing arm bushes, it would be possible but not too practical for road use as it would probably on a impact break either a welded mount on the rear beam of the bolt

also getting one to stay in place in the arms would be rather simple, two section out in either end and bolted together with either 2 or 4 small bolts around the radius with space for the large centre bolt and to stop them possibly spinning and shearing the bolts that hold em together they have stepped surfaces (say for instances two "L"s put together to make a rectangle

but i think it would be ideal for a track only car

what do people think?

Now I have driven these bushes and mounts for a week orso now, and people have been posting questions about "powerflex vs Strong-flex".

The material used for the yellow sport strong-flex is very hard, they don't allow any movement in the wrong directions and you can hear them creak going over bumpy surfaces. With cornering i've noticed that it aids soo much more at keeping the car in check, and (I know I have coilovers) elliminates even more body due to the stiffness.

I've never used powerflex so I cannot make a verdict on what there material is like, but for the price and how long you have to wait for powerflex, Strong-flex is a winner for me. They arrive at you door within 4-7 days and you get more in the pack (ARB mounts).

Thanks

i have powerflex and there similar asin they creak on bumps ect. ive had the power and strong flex kits next to each other. they seem similar in material but a tiny bit better finish on the powerflex... shame about the price and wait. oh and no arb bush's

if i ever went back in time with the knoledge id get the strongflex sport (yellow) as there isnt a real difference in material and when there on it doesnt matter how nice they look.... pluss they do the arb AND YOU CAN GET ENGINE MOUNT INSERTS!!! which are always handy :)

I'd agree, if I was looking for a full kit i'd went for the strongflex kit, just because of the price.

As regard to the ARB bushes, the inner bushes were perfect(not sure if harder material is needed) when i took it out my R-reg cinq, but the outer were totally shagged!

This is how I removed the rubber with metal insert.

Used a hacksaw to cut the outer tube.

I burnt the crap out of mine with the hot spanner...:slayer: not very technical I know but quite satisfying. Million points for identifying the engine on stand in background..
