Hey everyone,
I'm about to buy a new Grande Punto 1.4 T-Jet Sporting and am intending on modifing it.
I've seen it somewhere that the engine is capable of being tuned to over 180BHP!!
I'm interested in increasing boost, bigger intercooler, induction kit, new cam shafts, better headers, remapping, water/ methanol injection, and possibly nitrous. Any other suggestions?

Anyone know a good online source for performance parts?

Thanks

Everyone is going to say... search, all the info you need is in previous threads.

With all that in mind for your t-jet... why didn't buy the abarth?

Didn't buy the Abarth because it would be more expensive in the long run and I just prefer the Sporting for some reason.

yeah that sounds mint, get some nos...

It'll probably be a 25 shot of NOS, electronically controlled in conjunction with a water/methanol injection system (triggered by preset boost pressure).
Just for that extra little kick! :D

You dont need to touch cams. Induction and map will get you 150ish good custom cat back 160ish then FMIC because the heat soak is bad but dunno what that will get as i havent had my map tweaked to accomodate it yet. Thats the limit of the turbo so you will need a new one before you can do anything else. Injectors are good for up to about 180bhp then they need replacing. If you have search you will see all of this covered before.

Wouldnt bother with NOS or any other crap as you can get 260bhp out of them if you are willing to spend the money but imo pretty pointless and the abarth is the better starting point.

Excellent Post Matt... (y)

OR the OP could just buy a 1.9 + re-map.... 190bhp sorted for £200! :D

That did actually make me :D !

On form Mr Mehstg! Nah Matt & I understand each other now.... but the fact remains £200 for close to 200Bhp is a damn good "bang for buck" ratio in anyones terms.... for sure less costly than Matt's €2,000+ solution lol!

There is the issue of that heavy MJet lump tho....

just out of curiosity is the new 1.6 engine as (potentially) tuneable as the 1.9?

I think Oldschool could probably answer that better than I TBH but there was a saying way back "aint no substitute for CC's" from American V8 tuners I think. Bearing in mind a 16v motor and an 8v motor have different power delivery profiles I feel the 8v unit has a more diesel orientated leaning, (low revs, bags of low RPM grunt) but then I'm no expert.

I'm sure some of the better educated tuners will come on and express their views, technology has moved on so much nowadays but is in some ways negated by the laws on emmissions and general engine cleanliness.
