Hello everybody. I'm not sure if this was posted already, but I have some troubles with my Punto T-Jet. Under acceleration, the car starts vibrating. I've came to a conclusion that the right hand side driveshaft (that connects to the gearbox) needs replacing, aswell as the tripod. Yes, the car is lowered.

The issue is that, I'm having a hard time finding a right side driveshaft compatible with my car. I've went to my mechanic, he ordered a GSP driveshaft (it was the only one available), with my VIN number, only to see that it was shorter than the OEM one, and because of that, gearbox oil was leaking from the gasket. The vibrations got worse with that driveshaft. The driveshaft is for an 1.3 Multijet.

I got an offer for a new OEM intermediate driveshaft (just the shaft connecting the gearbox to the 2nd joint, and tripod, and the price is close to 800 euros.

My Punto T-Jet is LHD, 5 speed manual. On autodoc it seems that now they have Eurodriveline shafts in stock, but they seem to be multiple lengths, and I don't remember how the driveshaft is. I only know that the rim side is 25 teeth and gearbox side is 24.

Does anyone know what length a right driveshaft for a 5 speed Punto T-Jet should be? Thanks.

You can't just fit a new Constant Velocity joint on the original old shaft?
Re the lowering side , if the drive shaft isn't in a horizontal line from gearbox/axle to the wheel hub then the joint is working hard all the time and will fail early anyway.
Plus it increases the chance of it pulling out of the gearbox/axle.

Fitting a new tripod joint on the worn intermediate shaft wouldn't make too sense imo. Both would need to be changed, that's what i'm thinking at least.

Oh well, you have seen the old shaft so know best.
Unless someone had the original apart and badly reassembled it, I have found the outer is the one that fails most on many vehicles, I can honestly say I have fitted literally 100s compared with one or two inner joints in my working life.:)

SnuffRadu is spoton. I have the same issue on the Bravo 1.4 T-Jet. I bought a replacement unit,

and it was short. I have sent the current shaft for reconditioning and was told that they couldn't get replacement tripod and cup. They just made it work, but now the decibels are increasing. I have been making inquiries all over and i don't seem to get it right. The dealer has given me an 8 week lead time to order one

Update, I've found a new Punto T-Jet right driveshaft on Ebay and ordered it for around 200 euros.

They state that the shaft is 921 mm long, the 1.3 MultiAir GSP driveshaft is 908 mm which is around the observed difference of 1 cm between them. I hope for a good fitment as I don't want to have 2 new driveshafts for sale :|.

I've observed that I have a small vibration also when the revs come down from 2500 rpm to idle in neutral. I might need engine mounts aswell. I'll update the topic once the driveshaft arrives.
