Before I go back to Fiat.. again.. thought I'd ask if theres a way to fix these things.

I've noticed, in the past week my car is noisy when going offset over a speed bump. From my last thread, you'll notice I had one shock absorber changed at the back. It's fine if I drive over speed bumps normally.. and bumpy roads don't seem to affect it. However, if I turn left and go over a speed bump, or when I turn left into my local garage, it clatters about as if I've just lost an alloy. Every time the car has made this noise, I've turned and looked, just to make sure nothing has fallen off.. It sounds horrible. :(

Secondly, my mileage flashes intermitantly. I don't mind this, I'm just concerned that it should mean something, surely it shouldn't just flash for no reason? It doesn't seem to affect the car at all..

Lastly, is there anyway I can fix my left hand vent. It's stuck shut, I can poke a pen in there and open it, but if you slide the slider across, it closes again. I can take a picture if this isn't clear.. It's as if the slider has come unattached from the actual moving vent bits. I had the right hand side fixed under warranty, now the left side has gone and I really really really don't want to go to Fiat again :(

Also as an update, Fiat customer relations called about my key yesterday, and hopefully they should be calling Ancaster on Monday to get an answer.

So another exciting week with the 500

The flashing mileage problem is explained here.
It was a problem that I had on the '08 and I just lived with it. I didn't have it when I first got it but I left the battery disconnected to long and it seemed to come on after that.
You could try disconnecting your battery for 10 minutes which is essentially a hard reset. You will lose your trip mileage & mpg stuff on the readout. If it doesn't solve it then Fiat have to fix it. It's no big deal and it's very common. It has not happened yet on my '09.

The 'clattering' you get when you mount and turn left - is it more of a clunk and did it come on after the new shock absorber was put in on the left hand side ? I have a bit of clunk on my '09 on the left like yourself but not if I'm turning right but it will need to be looked at when the shocks are being replaced. I would be interested in the outcome of yours.

The Vent. If they fixed the RHS then hopefully they'll fix the LHS. You're every fortunate to have that warranty.

Hope all goes well with the 'fixes' and the key 'replacement'.(y)

It is a clunk. And I think I should mentioned the mileage just in case. I understand its just 'one of those things', but since I'm there, I may as well mention it.

Anyway, I'm up and ready to go to Fiat now :) And where's the boyfriend..? Ah he's still in bed. Looks like I'm off without him! hehe :p

I will let you know the outcome when I'm back. They close at 12 today so I'm not getting my hopes up at anything being fixed.. will probably have to take a day off work to go in mid-week I imagine.

Is the clonking coming from a specific side of the car? Front or rear?
