Hi, looking to carry out a smoke test to see if there are any leaks on manifold gaskets, pipes etc.
Excuse my ignorance but do I:

- remove map sensor and block hole.
- remove purge valve blue pipe and block off hole.
- Block off breather fitting (orange circle)
Feed the smoker down the smaller breather pipe (blue circled)

Please advise if I'm incorrect or there's a simpler method. Thanks

This guy uses a smoke machine regularly

So looks like there's no need to block anything off, just connect smoker directly into air intake on filter box. Thank you

Yes, I think I've only seen him feed it into the air intake. He has said that many garages don't own a smoke machine and wrongly diagnose many problems which are caused by air leaks.

Assuming you still have a 1.2 2014

p10162 dose not relate to your engine

As far as I know it does not have MAF sensor

Try a different scantool

Maybe I am missing something or you have a different car now

There are far easier ways to check the inlet manifold on a MAP only engine than smoke

Hi, so by doing this, blocking small breather and throttle the engine cuts off. What does this prove please

If put you hand over the throttle body and it carry on running you have a leak between the inlet manifold and cylinder head

If you have an issue here, it normally will not idle evenly

p10162 is a mismatch between the MAP sensor and MAF sensor, diesel and turbo fiats usually a boost pipe or ERG not applicable here

These are MAP no MAF so it shouldn't be able to get a mismatch and the p10162 should not be possible and is likely to be a red herring
