Re: Can i resest the "Serviice Due" notice
I agree with Steely - if the car came in with issues, and it was obvious that neglect (for example) required it to need a service, then the existing need for a service should deter a light reset.
When we bought our Stilo (12 months old), the service reminder was still on - it had been serviced with FIAT parts at a FIAT dealer, but the light not reset. Would that put me off? Hardly. If I were buying a used car that had had the service interval reset but no history, would that put me off? Yes, as I'd assumed (as XR states), that in some way, the seller got the light reset.
But T's point stands - we've always bought newish (18 months) or new cars through the FIAT network, so this has never been a problem
. My objection is that, if I were to service my 7yr old Bravo in the future by a non-approved FIAT dealer, why should I have to prove and justify my decision to get the light reset?
I suppose it's down to personal opinion on whether this function is used as an electronic service history (as the clusters do keep a record of services), or whether it is used as a reminder function only, kind of like an alarm.
