You have to remember that a Centurbo is an after market conversion and has not had the countless hours of development work that a factory produced turbo model has had. Just look at service intervals for example in a Centurbo you are looking at oil changes at 3K miles which is even 1k less than an FQ400 Evo. In addition as the majority of the components in a Centurbo were never designed for the amount of power, torque and heat that is put through them they are more likely to fail.
Don't get me wrong Centurbo's are an absolute hoot and I love mine, the smug fealing you get at leaving much more expensive machinary in your wake is imeasurable. But owning one of these is a big commitment and it can't be done on the cheap, ask any Centurbo owner an they will all say they have put many hundreds and probably thousands into there cars to keep them running, improving them, stoping them going wrong and fixing them when they have gone wrong (That doesn't include the higher daily running costs of high fuel consumption, insurance, tyres, etc)
I would also recommend that you shouldn't really have one as an only car I have often likened these cars to holding a hand grenade with the pin pulled, you know it is all going to go wrong in a big way, you just don't know when
As for manufatures Turbo cars I've owned a few in the past. I had a Volvo 850 T5 that did 140K miles in 3 years and nothing broke. A Sierra Cosworth 65K miles in 2 years only prob I had was a leaking radiator (not the cars fault it was hit by a stone). Saab 9000 turbo 40Kmiles only prob leaking aircon, (in fact that is still running and owned my a mate of my dads and has covered close to 200K miles now)
Yep, of the FIATs, UTs seem to be remarkably reliable unless you run the engines at very high boost, Coupe Tubs seem pretty tough unless you treat them like Evos.
You could probably buy an Integrale and spend less money on it..................
Which doesn't mean the Cinq Tubs are not very special cars.
