just out of curiosity and to settle a trivial matter, but which is faster; a 1.6 saxo or a 1.8 bravo [off the mark and top end]?
iv got no idea what power they are or 0-60, i presum theyre about 110bp and weigh just under a ton but thats just a guess???????????

Dirty VTR?!!?

I've never had a race with a VTR or VTS for that matter. I would imagine the vtr would hammer the Bravo off the mark and the bravo would be slightly faster top end. I have raced a 1.4 west coast and mine was the faster (without NOS!) off the mark and top end

Remember that the VTR is very very low geared and the Bravo is stupidly high geared. The gearing is always something to take in to consideration and is often forgotten as well as the obvious BHP and weight.

Re: Dirty VTR?!!?

any suggestions on making my cart kwiker? thinkin about re-map but someone advised against it.
thinkin about punto 6-gear in myne? not sure how much difference though?????????help

Re: Re: Dirty VTR?!!?

The bravo would be quicker over the 1/4 mile as the VTR driver would have to stop and ask directions!

Re: Re: Re: Dirty VTR?!!?

The VTR would be much quicker off the line as it's an 8valve compared to the 16v Fiat.
Their 100bhp as standard and weight about 900kg, 0-60 is just over 9secs, compared to the Bravo at about 1200kg and not too sure about 0-60.
I reckon the VTR would hammer the Bravo up a 1/4 mile:)

no no no

i'd say the bravo would be much faster as the vtr driver would be too busy looking for the pound he needs to release his shopping trolley, sorry, car, from the chain. ha ha!!

Tony.

I can help!!

I have a modded Bravo 1.8, and i can whole hearted vouch for it being quicker than a Saxo VTR as i work with a guy who has one, he has begged me for a strip race for months but i have held out till i had my skirts and strutbrace and other bits finished.

We took it to the line and i left him in every gear change! We even swapped cars for a straight run and my bravo did it again with him driving. I'm 23 and he is 27 and we felt like kids doing it but all day long its VTR this and VTR that...ZZzzz...

Soon showed him! Bravo Rules again :eek:P

Rob

The Punto 6 speed gear box is an exelent idea.

Very Very low ratio box.

but forget it! Me and Crazy D have alrady tried it. The crank and the fly wheel will not mary together.

GOD DAM fiat mechanics!!!!

BOOK FIGURES - The VTR only has 90bhp - and 0-60 in 10 secs. The VTS has 120bph and does the 0-60 in 7.7. My mate has a VTS and they are very quick. It is a very small, light car. But I don't trust going fast in anything french. Hardly worth wearing a seatbelt.

Bravo 1.8 HLX (115) / 112BHP / 120MPH / 0-60 = 9.8

Citroen Saxo VTR / 90BHP / 116MPH / 0-60 = 9.3

There you go, make up your own minds! ;)

VTR

I used to have a VTR before my Bravo, it was a good car to drive but small and very common.
I'm sure ut would be quicker than a 1.8 Bravo off lights and would probably just about keep up with an HGT.
Mine was rolling roaded by a mate to 106.4bhp, a Bravo 1.8 is about 115bhp?? And the saxo is much lighter, so higher power to weight ratio.
They have got very, very good bottom end power, you can put your foot down anywhere in the rev range and it will go, on the HGT you got to wind it up to about 3500-4000rpm to get anywhere.
If it was bigger I would have kept it, much more fun than an HGT to drive, and cheaper when it breaks!!

Re: Re: saxo vtr................

Mabufacturers figures are always conservative tho and cant be taken as red

Also, not every car will be built with exactly the same power, apparently 40% of warranty repairs in Britain are from cars built on Fridays, ie, lower quality!

And yes, ive raced a saxo vtr to 60, and the fiat was faster, his front was level with my rear bumper.

Over a ton the bravo blitzed it tho, it went round to 125 before i shat myself - blue lights on the motorway bridge.

I hate Saxos but.....

Sorry guys, **** in a Saxo VTR will beat us accelerating from 30 in 3rd and 4th and 40-70ish in 4th and 5th. We, however just about beat them to 60 (I think it was 9.5secs vs 10secs) and accelerating above 80 we pull away in our 1.8s......they conk out just above 110 as well whereas I got to 120 before running out of straight road.

Couple of years back me and a mate went down to Pembrey race circuit and basically did all these sad 'Top Gear' tests to see which of us had the quicker car!! Did it again last week with a Clio 172 and a Saxo VTS and the bloody VTS was far too close to me for my liking!!!

VTR or Bravo?

I'd just like to add it's close from the lights but if you drop a gear in the Bravo when you're behind one of those twatty french things on a straight road they don't stand a ****ing chance, you will cane it's arse. I'm speaking from experience here as every little boy in a Saxo wants a race with my Bravo and I'm growing out of that sort of thing, so **** off the lot of yer!
