alright

yesterday i pulled behind a vts an he booted it from a roundabout into a long straight, so i followed suit thinking that it would be an easyish victory.

it turned out to be a very close call till about 100mph where i started to gain slightly

does any1 have experience of this? is it possible i tried it on with a tuned vts?

Remember the Paxo weighs about half of the HGT ;)

Could have easily been standard, I know power to weight isn't everything but here are the stats:

HGT 155:
Weight 1190 kg
Power 155 bhp
Torque 139 lb ft
130 bhp/ton
l16 lb ft/ton

Saxo VTS:
Weight 935 kg
Power 120 bhp
Torque 107 lb ft
128 bhp/ton
114 lb ft/ton

If you compare power and torque per ton, then there is hardly anything in it.

them VTS's do make you work.

The VTR's are easu to show up but even with all the torque from the DDDDDiesel they still try upto around 100mph

it may have been tuned if it kept with you till 100mph, ive raced a few and depending on the driver you iver loose them at 60 or 70 cos although they are quick they are still a 1600 and they tend to loose momemtom, but a tuned one on the other hand would give you a bit of a worry as they respond really well to manifold, exhaust, decat and filter and chip you can get them to about 170bhp with head work and a few other tweaks the only reason i dont own one now is that the guy i was buying it off sold the bloody thing behind my back for an extra £60 (toser)
lol

@Donny lad, the fact it's a 1.6 is pretty irrelevant to how quick it goes. Ever raced a motorbike? That lose momentum after 60/70?

no mate bt a motor bike would be packing the same sort of power as a vts,

having driven one for 4 months while a mate was traveling i know what they are capable of tuned up and i would have thought a 2 litre wouldnt be put under as much strain as a 1600

the thing is they were very fast when they first come out but the majority have been hammad to deaf by lead footed chavs lol

quick maybe but where is the style? tin cans with the worst interior. hatchbacks so last year ;)

cheers lads, i needed some confermation

im still surprised it kept up, i might have to purchase one an do what donny lad suggested an get it to 170bhp. that would be rapid and cheap

could b a nice little track car, that way i could get to keep my hgt! :)

There are cheaper, lighter, more tuneable cars to have as track cars than a Saxo, if that's what you're after.

a civic eg vti will give you over 165bhp ish if i remeber correctly and having the vtec will dessamate a vts and only 2 insurance groups higher

im sure these guys will dissagree lol
