General Recommend me a tyre

General Recommend me a tyre

It's been suggested I go for the 145x13's as these are good all round tyres, light for steering and good for snow/mud etc. So think that'll be my tyre of choice........... I don't like the alloys they make the car too heavy for my girly arms and want it to look like a proper Panda with steelies ;);)

i got 145, you can get loads of m+s tyres for them , you been given the colway and them other chunky tyre websites

no i dont mean put it in now:p i mean if it had had it when tyres was new then they may have lived longer

Possibly.. but rubber has a finite life like everything else. Perished (outer) sidewalls are due to age and attack by the atmosphere.. you could always keep the car in a nitrogen filled bubble.. :)

Mud and snow tyres are bound to load up the steering, no? A bit like chunky mountain bike tyres, just pedalling on the flat takes a whole load more effort. Hence why my bike has street tyres fitted, my idea of going off road is the occasional excursion onto the pavement..

err...probably:eek: mine seem to be ok. but coming from a pas stilo anything is heavy:(

Nooooo.. :bang: by the time the sidewall has perished, it's time to throw them away regardless of how much tread's left. It's an instant MOT failure too..

I thought it was, but the Selecta was MOTed by the previous owner and one tyre was really badly cracked on the sidewall and passed! It looked so dangerous we put the spare on before driving it back from the midlands!

Glad I get the cars MOTed where safety comes before a bit of paper!

MOT guys are human and do miss things. My MOT garage missed a brake pipe running behind the steering rack that was rusty/pitted hard to see damaged area I just changed it. The paper only means car passed ok at time of test only(y)

I've got continental eco contact 3s on mine, very very good IMO. They're 165/65/13" which is fine, i dont find the steering heavy and im not that strong. Fantastic grip all the time. The back lets go before the front now (Only have these on the front), had some accidental drifting 2 or 3 times now oops

I have pirelli P3000 165/65R13 on all wheels.
My girlfriend has Pirelli P3000 155/70R13 on all wheels.
Both cars handle about the same, no heavy steering, but less effort to keep them going straight on the highway with strong wind. (compared to 135/80R13).
I'm also very pleased with the pirellis grip, especialy in warm and dry conditions, but also in cold and wet conditions.
I would recommend 155/70R13 to anyone, but the most important thing about tyres, in my opinion, is : don't buy the cheapest ones and replace them in time.
(I replace mine when there's less than 2,5 mm of profile left.)

Some how I don't think the Selecta was 'ok' at the time it passed, although it will be for the next MOT now I own it, LOL.
