Technical Re brake lights

Hi people I have just had this happen today right I have fiat punto grande 2008 1.9 multijet and the rear passenger side brake light stopped working so I tested with the pedal pressed and driverside and high brake light work but passengers side not I checked for voltage and nothing so I bridged the right side rear with leftside and it worked but when I let off the pedal and pressed again both came on and went off with pedal down so disconnected the left rear brake light and the driver's side and high working fine???
When I bridged them I cut the what should be power wire as when I connected it tripped the side lights both sides bit of a wierd one any help would be appreciated thank you

Remove the light cluster from the car then you'll see the connector below. It will be damaged, or the pins on the light cluster that go into it will be rusted. You'll need to replace the connector, bend the connector tabs, remove rust etc.

Only one pin like that but it's the earth and the side lights and indicator still works!???

I have no idea how they manage to earth themselves, but they do.
